Hey SCL767 you're the guy I'm looking for,

do you know the date of the first 787 revenue flight and to where???

I suppose they're not going to send it to MAD and LAX anytime soon, I take it they're going to keep it in the region, maybe EZE??

LAN will make that announcement soon.

It's interesting to note that in the article, LATAM's CEO stated that LAN's first 787 route, "will likely be to Los Angeles or Buenos Aires". Also, LAN will receive 3 B-787s this year. So the 787 will likely be deployed on the SCL-MAD-FRA route later this year.

I know that I am about as biased towards NYC than anybody here, but why not JFK instead of LAX? I alway thought there was a bigger market here (JFK) than there (LAX) for LAN.

LAN's operations at JFK are larger compared to LAX. LAN will soon operate 29 weekly flights into JFK and certain flights operate as red-eyes in both directions; thus the 787 would basically spend half a day sitting idle at JFK. Also, one a/c arriving into JFK in the morning from either SCL or LIM operated by LA may turn around and operate the new JFK-LIM service that will be operated by LAN Perú that departs at 14:25.

LAN Airlines:
SCL-LIM-JFK daily (B763)
SCL-JFK daily (B763)

LAN Ecuador:
GYE-JFK 11x weekly (B763)

LAN Perú:
LIM-JFK 4x weekly (B763)

You will be able to fly LAN's 787 with-out leaving Europe. LAN will be the first carrier to operate the 787 into MAD. LAN currently operates the SCL-MAD-FRA route daily with the A-340-313X, but will deploy the B-787 on the SCL-MAD-FRA route daily, perhaps by the end of this year!

LAN is probably my favorite airline in the world, I might try their 787s on LAX-LIM just for the hell of it

I keep on saying that the 787's ETOPS performance should allow it do SCL-SYD... LAN's only option to replace their aging A340s on SCL-SYD will be the 787, since they're not getting any passenger 777s

eventually the 787 will land in SYD, no way around it

LAN will deploy the B787 on SCL-MAD-FRA route when receives the second B787s. The A343 will be used to increase capacity to SCL-AKL-SYD and probably SCL-JFK.

Best Regards,

CC-BBB should arrive by mid-October, so technically LAN 787s will have served EZE, FRA LAX, LIM, and MAD by late October.

Initially the CC-BBA will fly SCL-EZE-SCL-LIM-SCL route. Then will expand the B787 service to LAX. By the end of OCtober, LAN will introduce the B787 to MAD and FRA plus EZE.

Probably LAN will receive a third B787 this year but its not confirmed yet.

Best Regards,

CC-BBA initially deployed on the SCL-EZE-SCL and SCL-LIM-SCL routes; then CC-BBA deployed on the SCL-LIM-LAX route. When CC-BBB arrives, both CC-BBA and CC-BBB will be deployed on the SCL-MAD-FRA route and on the SCL-EZE route. LAN then deploys the A343s on the SCL-JFK route and LAN increases frequency on the SCL-AKL-SYD route.
