So far the routes are DEN-NRT, LAX-NRT, LAX-PVG, IAH-LOS, IAH-LHR, and IAH-FRA. Have any guesses on future 787 routes?

My routes.....
EWR-GRU, EWR-GIG, LAX-CDG, SFO-BRU, EWR-PVG.
EWR-PVG might not be doing too well with the 777.

I was under the impression they were adding a flight to these routes. I've been on most of them and they're pretty packed. Especially NRT...

Packed with low yields. The 787 will improve the profit margins.

Anything from NRT? I have a feeling CAN is on the list from there. (even if they already have a route from SFO)

Or would the SFO flight to CAN be better suited on a 787?

Would euro/east asia routes make sense with a 777?

They are definitely not. These are replacing flights.

They dont have one... and they didn't apply for NRT-CAN.

IAH-HKG, IAH-SCL, IAH- BRU, IAH-OSL

Why do you think they will fly to Oslo? Seriously I want to know.

I was 13 once too, dude. But this is actually (sometimes) a serious website. They fly 1 757 a day there today that goes out half empty.

I'm a bit surprised at the aforementioned LAX-NRT route being downgauged to a 787. Is this route really stretching thin?

When I flew to NRT on the 77L from DL, that plane was packed. For example: A Japanese family of 3 on standby ended up being rerouted to HNL in order to get to Japan.

I'm surprised UA is having a problem with filling the route to a decent load factor.

They, like DL, have awful yields.

Looks like we have confirmation of LAX-PVG. Added in the mix is Lagos. Good times!!    Surprised UA hasn't entertained New Zealand again.

I think because SK had mentioned a IAH-OSL flight to connect to the oil fields at Stavanger. Not gonna happen on UA metal...and I seriously doubt it on SK.

The load factor is fine but the yields are low...its 8 airlines on the route. Its about yield management - they will be able to make more money with the 787 on the route...presumably.

Not right now. There is another thread that answers all these questions - in fact I don't know how this redundant thread made it past 'big brother'.

IAH-SCL -- definitely never IAH-OSL and fat chance for IAH-HKG. IAH-EWR-OSL is already operated with a 752.

Can they fly EWR-GIG? Aren't the rights to fly directly into GIG from IAH?

Quoting mogandoCI (Reply 19):

Definitely towards the top for speculated routes. Although right after they announced the merger they were thinking of flying SFO-TLV with a 762. Personally I thought that would have never worked out as well an ORD or IAD - TLV routing.

I think LAX-TLV has a better chance because El-Al actually flies to LAX.

25 tommy767 : Drex, IAH-OSL ain't happening. That's why there's a one stop via EWR.
26 Dalavia : I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed) that no-one has suggested resurrecting IAH-AKL. It can't have been THAT bad an idea as it was on the books for
27 Post contains links and images EPA001 : From IAH toAMS is also on the map for the 787's from UA. Starting December. See: http://www.flightglobal.com/news/art...s-787-international-routes-375
28 AVENSAB727 : I think somebody should suggest ressurecting IAH-AKL.
29 tommy767 : I'd say SFO or LAX to AKL on the 787 ahead of houston.
30 vadheim : It might not happen with UA... but Houston has the largest Norwegian business community ouside Norway these days, and its importance is even increasi
31 gigneil : I hear rumbles of SFO-TLV being right up there. I am also surprised that talk of SFO-BLR/etc hasn't come up more. Those routes are the perfect kinds
32 mogandoCI : SFO-DEL/BOM has higher priority than BLR. A 789 *may* work, but only if oil stabilizes around $70-80.
33 drerx7 : Not via UA at least. I agree PIA...that would be what there 3rd time attempting IAH. I do miss their classic 747s here though.
34 catiii : UNITED AIRLINES ANNOUNCES FIRST 787 INTERNATIONAL ROUTES INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS WILL START IN JANUARY 2013 ON UNITED’S BOEING 787 DREAMLINER CHICAGO,
35 YankeesFan : I KNOW that already. We are discussing POSSIBLE routes for the UA 787.
36 beechtobus : Anyone think DEN-LHR round 2 is possible?
37 ORDfan : No routes to/from ORD for the foreseeable future?!?
38 drerx7 : In the near term...probably IAH.
39 YankeesFan : You can predict any route from ORD in this thread.
40 gigneil : Thanks, um, boss? DEN-LHR is definitely going to be a thing, but I don't know how far up on the priority that will be. NS
41 kgaiflyer : I know IAH is the 787 crew base. But wouldn't ORD-TLV make more sense?
42 AVENSAB727 : ORD will see the 787 in the future soon.
43 STT757 : Existing routes that might make sense for the 787: SEA-NRT, ORD-GRU
44 AVENSAB727 : IAH-GRU too.
45 gigneil : I wonder if they will launch any new routes from IAH? NS
46 AVENSAB727 : I think they will.
47 gigneil : I hope they start more routes from IAH. Perhaps IAH-IBZ. That'd be dope. NS
48 AVENSAB727 : I think IAH-SCL, IAH-ICN, IAH-Taipei.
49 gigneil : I hope they fly IAH-ORY with it. NS
50 YankeesFan : What?[Edited 2012-08-27 20:22:19]
51 Post contains images gigneil : I am sure he will take you up on that. Also, I wonder if they will launch more routes from IAH with the 727? NS
52 AVENSAB727 : IAH-Ho Chi Ming City Vietnam.
53 Post contains images gigneil : I am sure he will take you up on that. Also, I wonder if they will launch more routes from IAH with the 727? NS
54 AVENSAB727 : UA retired the 727 back in 2001.

56 YankeesFan : 1. I was creating HORRIBLE forums. 2. You can't be afraid of advocating what routes you want. You will face criticism like I have recently. 3. Enjoy
57 gigneil : I wonder if they'll launch any more routes from IAH? N...
58 YankeesFan : Most likely yes.
59 gigneil : I hope they launch more routes from IAH. IAH IAH IAH. NS
60 PHX787 : Alright now explain: what do you think will be sent from IAH? I'm thinking maybe SCL on the 787.
61 YankeesFan : IAH-HKG, IAH-PEK, and IAH-PVG????
62 gigneil : Nope. I'm just going to keep repeating IAH. ... They will never fly to Asia from IAH outside of NRT and maybe someday ICN. There's practically zero de
63 Post contains links and images ATTart : We can dream!!! MMM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXXRHpVed3M
64 AVENSAB727 : There is a really large Chinese population in Houston. I think we could see something in the future like IAH-PVG.
65 kgaiflyer : Seriously, anyone out there old enough to remember CO's E120 service between Ellington AFB and Bush Intercontinental?
66 drerx7 : I am...and I am 30. I flew the ATRs/EM2s/ERJ/ER3s on EFD and HOU - IAH. Free parking at EFD and EQM's...couldn't beat it.
67 CALMSP : its only been about 6.5 years. Not that long ago!
68 catiii : Actually, it appeared you didn't. You said: Not a big deal, but their announcement they didn't include FRA, and included AMS instead. I was just post
69 YankeesFan : I knew it but I made a mistake. IAH-FRA should be IAH-AMS.
