One Time Flights Question

For example why would an airline have a 1 time service , a tour charter or a test run for a future route?


LANChile in October 2012 is operating one-time nonstop service on Santiago de Chile – Cuzco – Iquique route, on board LANExpress Airbus A319 aircraft. Santiago departure service loaded around 1700hrs GMT in the GDS, followed by Cuzco – Iquique sector 2.5hrs later.

Schedule:

LA1356 SCL1100 – 1150CUZ 319 19OCT12
LA1357 CUZ1600 – 1920IQQ2000 – 2215SCL 319 21OCT12

It is a charter flight operated by LAN Express; however LAN would like to operate seasonal flights between SCL and CUZ in the future.
