To feed DEN-NRT no doubt. I'll be booking a 787 flight...are they available for booking yet?

So the LAX routings will be something like IAH-DEN-NRT-LAX-PVG-LAX-NRT-DEN-IAH? This brings the plane into IAH once a week. I am assuming the 787 fleet is based out of Houston for now?

Yes. IAH is the sole crew/mx base for them at present.

They should send the 787 to the Cleveland Air Show this year...alot of people would get a chance to see it!

Wow, DEN isn't gonna see much action till then. Disappointing.

But the DEN-NRT, IIRC, begins March 13th.... Maybe I have the dates incorrect.

Quoting drerx7 (Reply 3):

Sept 1 is the sale start date per United Daily. I'm gonna see if I can book something on the aircraft, that is if UA adds more frequency into and out of DEN other than what we see now. But we are only taking 5 of the airplane type this year so I am not holding my breath.

Quoting kaitak744 (Reply 4):

They will be based out of IAH indefinitely.

Quoting cle757 (Reply 6):

You would have a better chance of getting Boeing to bring one than UA sending one.

Well...DEN will get it permanently to NRT and IAH after the 31st of March

Doubtful. Its only 5 frames to start...I'm sure that the next batch will open up potentially more lucrative routes from EWR/SFO/ or ORD.

IAH-HKG...NO way. Not a big enough or lucrative market enough to tie up 2-3 airplanes with. IAH-ICN...possibly, I would rather and be more apt to see OZ run this one if it was run. Honestly...the only other Asian route I could see happening in any reasonable amount of time is NH starting IAH with 787.

Third Coast born, means I'm Texas raised
25 AVENSAB727 : I meant that they could start IAH-HKG since there is a large chinese population here in Houston.
26 gigneil : How many people fly from Houston to Hong Kong every day? NS
27 CALMSP : not as many as IAH-ICN! I expect ICN to be one of the first Asia destinations added from IAH..........unless OZ would jump on it first.
28 Post contains images drerx7 : Well...its not as simple as that. Let's stay on topic though
29 gigneil : Yes. One more word about international flying, which I'm also guilty of, and this thread should get nuked and started over. The instant SFO gets loade
30 AVENSAB727 : Ok, IAH-MCO should have been in the schedule though.
31 BC77008 : There is, um, like a very, um, large Belgian population in Houston, and um, all 5 of those people could like really use these flights.
32 United787 : What will they be doing with their first 787 from mid-September until Nov. 4... they should have 2-3 787s by then. How can ET but their 787 right into
33 Splitterz : Probably different regulatory bodies?
34 gigneil : UA's hub in MCO is amazing. i love their 747 to BOG. Nah. Just choice. NS
35 United1 : Guess I missed the hub but CALTECH at UAs MCO TechOps Center might have liked to take a look at it.
36 phatfarmlines : That's awfully generous of UA to have IAH serve as the base for the 787 domestic familiarization flying, even if this is a carryover from CO. I though
37 njdevilsin03 : Now to just figure out which flight will be the 787 since I actually have to fly LAX-IAH either november 4th or 5th...
38 UGA777 : I know it was mentioned above that they are taking 5 frames this year. How many are they taking in 2013?
39 The777Man : It makes much more sense to fly the 787 between hubs and especially to the hubs that will operate international flights with them soon ie LAX and DEN
40 RWA380 : It looks like other than CLE and IAD which are special one day trips to UA hub cities, the cities that will be seeing the 787's regularly will be the
41 fun2fly : 6 Feel the same about one day IAD?
42 chrisnh : Giving the Dawg Pound a bone.
43 STT757 : After the first batch of 11 sCO 787-8s when and what will be next, the 25 sUA 787-8s or the 14 sCO 787-9s?
44 windy95 : Some misguided posts here. This is not permanent domestic flying but simply the familiarization schedule. These are temporary routes during the proce
45 drerx7 : Not IAH-DEN. You see starting the 31st of March the schedule is 'open'. That is gonna be permanent...at least for the forseable future until there wi

48 Post contains images point2point : Don't forget about the 11 Houstonians who live in Brussels....... Wow..... it's actually going to be happening, eh? The DEN managers, as well as most
49 kaitak744 : Well, if they have flights from DEN-NRT and LAX-NRT and PVG, and no flight from IAH-NRT, then they HAVE TO have a flight from IAH to DEN or LAX. Othe
50 FriendlySkies : I think between the growing tech sector in Denver/front range and likely shifting of some connecting traffic through DEN, this route could very well
51 planespotting : Will EWR-IAH be an additional frequency between the two hubs or will it replace UA 1695 (764)? The wife and I will be returning from Europe via EWR on
52 BFinSF : I understand that the schedules will be loaded later tomorrow and up for sale on Saturday. However, does anyone know which days the 5X weekly IAH-SFO-
53 UALFAson : So just to clarify: that early morning IAH-EWR flight on Nov. 4 is officially THE first UA 787 revenue flight, correct? You know, just in case any of
54 AVENSAB727 : I heard the first revenue flights will be before November 4

61 speedbrds : I just booked a flight from LAX-IAH on November 18th and cost me all but $2.50 with miles. I'm excited!

63 drerx7 : Depends on what you are looking to get into LOL! Contrary to a.net belief...there is ALOT to get you into trouble in Houston lol.

65 COflyerBOS : If you want something unique, don't stay near the airport. 30 miles north of town is genericville USA. Stay downtown at the Magnolia Hotel. Spend time
66 Post contains images AirframeAS : That would be awesome, but I doubt that my seniority would be enough to get on the 787.....
67 Post contains images max550 : Alright, you've convinced me. We'll be staying downtown and hopefully checking out a few of the places you suggested. I've seen enough genericville U

69 RWA380 : You know I had the same problem a few months back when I bought inexpensive tickets to DFW for a 48 hour trip, with only 1 night Hotel stay this next
70 CALMSP : Houston is the best city in the world.......you'll enjoy it! (being a little facetious, but in all reality, everything in Texas is awesome)
71 Post contains images max550 : Many thanks for everyone's input. I'm really looking forward to the trip now. I told myself 10 or 12 years ago that I'd fly the 7E7 the first chance
