DHL TU-204C At London Heathrow?

I have a quick query that someone might be able to answer.

This afternoon I was watching a rugby match at Twickenham (my team lost, badly) and I saw a DHL aircraft coming into land over the stadium.

Initially I thought it was a 757 but something about the aircraft did not look exactly right. I know that Aviastar of Russian flies a TU-204c liveried in DHL colours, but I assumed at the time that this could not be the case for a flight into London Heathrow.

However, looking online afterwards I can almost swear that I did see a DHL TU-204c.

I cannot find any information online but the time was somewhere around 17:30hrs on the 1st September, anyone want to check it out?

It must have been a 757, they are regular at LHR on Saturday afternoons/evenings. A TU-204 would have been VERY well reported......

Don't the TU-204s have winglets? Don't the 757s, well.........not? I know it's kind of hard to see if it's flying overhead a stadium while paying attention to the game, but it would be an easy way to tell them apart.

To add to your sportive misery, I think what you saw was the A300F that operates AMS-LHR (BCS771/BA3403). A DHL 757 isn't scheduled into LHR (from LIS as BCS729/BA3393) until an hour later.

Either way, it couldn't have been DHL's TU-204c. It flew LEJ-SVO early this morning as TUP952 and headed back as TUP953 about 4 hours after you thought you'd seen it overhead.

Quoting blueflyer (Reply 3):

Also, does the TU-204 even have permission to operate in the EU?

If it flew to and from LEJ, I'd assume so.

Yes. The Tu-204-120CE received type certification from EASA in 2008.

I was at LHR on Saturday afternoon, it was a DHL 757 D-ALEB that came in around that time.

That must of been it.

Thanks, I appreciate all your posts, even if I am a little sad that it was not a Tu-204!
