TAM To Retire 763's

TAM will take the opportunity with their new 4 B77W to retire their small fleet of 3 Boeing 767-300ER.

The 763's were used nowadays only on GIG-MIA, MAO-MIA, BSB-MIA and CNF-MIA which means that Miami will soon see a product upgauge for mostly routes, increasing competition with American as they will also offer First Class service from 3 new markets (GIG already offers F to JFK and MCO, among others outside the USA) and will offer also PTV on all seats.

Effective 28/OCT

GIG-MIA
MIA-GIG
CNF-MIA
MIA-CNF
BSB-MIA
MIA-BSB

Effective 29/OCT

MIA-MAO
MAO-MIA

Will all be operated by Airbus A330-200 (4F 32/36J* 183Y)
* Depending on the route, as they will reserve more seats for crew rest.

As a side note, TAM will operate JFK-GRU 9x weekly B77W + 5x weekly A332 (daylight on Tuesdays and Fridays will be operated by B77W)
This means that the incoming A332 from GIG-JFK will assume the daylight service the next day JFK-GRU and the incoming daylight GRU-JFK will cover the redeye JFK-GIG.

MIA-GRU - 2x daily B77W
MIA-GIG - Daily A332
MIA-MAO - Daily A332
MIA-BSB - 4x weekly A332
MIA-CNF - 3x weekly A332
MCO-GRU - 2x daily A332
MCO-GIG - Daily A332
JFK-GRU - 9x weekly B77W + 5x weekly A332
JFK-GIG - 6x weekly A332

Indeed, TAM upgauging the BSB-MIA, CNF-MIA, GIG-MIA, and MAO-MIA routes with the A332s will certainly increase competition with AA on these routes.

True, MIA will see GRU-MIA increase over 60%
GRU-JFK around 35%
All other routes see minor increase (around 8 to 10%) as the 763 seats 205 passengers and the A332, 223.

And they are launching GIG-MCO.

Yep, in two weeks, one of the daily GRU-MIA services will operate with the B77W. PT-MUE just joined TAM's fleet and PT-MUF should arrive later this month.

This is a schedule of a growing airline, Varig a its height could only dream of having such a timetable to the USA. RG did fly to LAX & on to Tokyo, that type of flight would not be viable today.

This is the schedule of an airline that saw a recent opportunity to gain on growing demand between Brazil and United States. One clear item we can say here is that the USA become immigration friendly to Brazilians and they are getting a strong response.
As for additional markets would love to see a flight to LAS in the near future as well as Northeast-MIA flights.

Who knows in 2013 as JJ will receive 2 additional B77W.

IMHO, LA will be the one flying to destinations i.e. LAS via LIM, (routing pax from Brazil via the LIM hub).

JJ won't have much flexibility with its widebody fleet during 2013. These 2 B77Ws could be used on existing routes with high demand to free up additional A332, i. e. if JJ wants to increase flights to Europe next year.

Good move towards a more standard fleet. But the A330 has operating costs 15-20% higher per departure than the 767-300. The A330 cabin and performance are superior but TAM is going to have a higher hurdle to open new, thin longer haul routes without the 767s.

LAN could transfer a/c over to TAM in the future. LAN has 9 new B-767-316ERs on order and by 2014, LAN will have 12 B-787-8s in the fleet.

Atlas Air has bought one 767 that was converted to a freighter. It is a 1991 version. These are 1994.

They just changed the color. Never introduced JJ default seats on them.
