So far in September (and august 28 as well), BA has sent the B77W on its daily run to YUL.

Anyone know why BA would send a 4 class 77W to YUL, instead of the regular 3 class 772? Surely the likes of JFK, IAD, LAX, SFO, even YVR, are better suited for the 77W?

Trying to think of an event this week or next that could justfy the upgauge of eqpt. The cycling grand prix commencing shortly perhaps?

It all comes down to the operation requirement. A 3 class 777 is configured 48J/24W/203Y and when a 77W operates a 3 class route BA sell the F seats as J and operate the aircraft in a 70J/44W/183Y. The 77W allows BA to add addition capacity in J and WTP without significantly reducing capacity in WT.

BA have carried a number of groups to YUL recently I am guessing these groups have been booked in J and WTP as the flight operated by the 77W have all been full in J and WTP and at about 90% capacity in WT.

Question, how do I spot this and book J to get the First Class seat.

Are you sure it's a 77W?

Flew LHR-YUL on the 27th and it was the normal 3-class 77E. My girlfriend is flying LHR-YUL on Saturday and the seat map on her flight is also the 77E.

Finall,y a quick check with flightaware shows the last 10 LHR-YUL flights operated by a 77E...

Flightaware arcraft type data is often wrong. Flightradar24.com shows that 6 of the last 9 BA95/94 flights LHR-YUL-LHR were operated by the 77W. It also shows the aircraft registration.

That's interesting. Wish they'd send the 77W here more often.

no one said anything about the 27th. I clearly said the 28th of august.

Check the return flights. The aircraft type on flights originating in North America are somewhat more accurate.

yesterday BA operated the 77E, but today its the 77W again. Aircraft is just landing as we speak. (and again, the aircraft code is wrong, but the tag on the map is correct)
