I am listening to live ATC from Tunis ACC and the controller just informed that the Libyan airspace is about to close as of 1000 UTC. Now on www.flightradar24.com you can see AUA891 VIE-TIP is holding over Lampedusa.

Why is it closing? Is it because of the attacks? I haven't heard anything in the news.

Here's news from yesterday, when the drones were flying in, Benghazi airspace shut down. Maybe this is what's going on again?

But that is Benghazi. What really surprises me is that up to now, the Eurocontrol CFMU is saying nothing about that event although derouting and diverting is in progress !

AUA is climbing and heading North, giving it up. I wonder if they had fuel for the return trip or will divert to somewhere in Italy.

With all the chaos going on, will there be a risk of SAMs being fired at airliners?

Lol, Libya has been calm for a long time since the war, this is due to an ATC strike. No unrest in Lybia.

I dont think that is because of Libyan Airspace. Its original course was well west of Libya.
