There might be a peak of demand for some reason. Maybe there is an even in Athens and they expect a lot of folk from beyond DXB to attend. Maybe an A345 is out for service and the A380 is the only big enough plane available at that time.
Maybe they are just doing a promotional flight with the A380 like LH did around Europe. Or maybe they need to check the ATH airport as suitable alternate for A380 flight planning - and are going to try it by a flight there and listening to crew reports.
