It's been over a week since EK started IAD. What gates is EK using at IAD and where is their checkin counter located. Does anyone know what lounge they are using and how the flight is doing so far?

They are using AF's gate A20 which has the upper deck jetway if they choose to send a A380 to IAD. The check in counter is the new one that opened on the back side of the US,QR counter. Not sure which lounge, maybe AF's or VS.

I think EK is using the 77L right now for the route!! Anyone get a picture of it yet at IAD??

I know it comes in around 8:30-9:30 and departs around 11am-12pm...so it comes in earlier than most international arrivals. I am sure the customs/immigration is comparatively faster than the afternoon bank.

I am going to try this flight next year for my yearly trip back home, unless for some reason they withdraw the flight.

Emirates actually uses the A24-26 gates and they are the only carrier to do so...if they ever do send the A380 then they would def move to A20. The loads inbound have been decent 70%-80% but outbound it its been hovering a little less than 50%. They use the VS lounger across A32 and the check-in counter on the south side of the 2nd set of kiosks they are only shared with Saudia, they have only been in use the past month.

Immigration is still pretty bad because the lack of officers and EK coming right after the Ethiopian flight.

You always hear EK adding markets I doubt they would ever pull out of one...LOL

That sounds odd... It implies poor US sales with the outbound loads expected to improve as those individuals return. But it also implies EK is unlikely to use a high MTOW 77W at IAD until the market matures.

EK is a numbers run airline. They have pulled out of quite a few markets. Alexandria and Ho Chi Min (which they have returned to) come to mind.

True and the SAA 207 from JNB-DKR comes in the am too....I wonder why there are very few officers at that time!! Any reason for that?

If Wikipedia is correct, not counting SGN (since they're returned), EK has dropped 6 destinations:

Abu Dhabi
Alexandria, Egypt
Baku, Azerbaijan
Bandar Abbas, Iran
Moroni, Comoros
Nagoya, Japan
