I know with the UN Assembly in progress from 24 Sep-28 Sep (Mon-Fri) there are a few rare visitors to JFK now.
I was told an Iran Air 747SP and a Yemeni 747SP are on the list. Has anyone heard of any additional rare birds here? I would think Russia's IL-96 would be on this list but I can't confirm this.
Is it safe to say the Iran and Yemeni SP's will be there at JFK thru Friday?
One more thing, I noticed on Flightaware.com that a Thai Airways A345 arrived at SWF from JFK. Why wouldn't this just stay in JFK for the UN Assembly meeting!?!?

A7-HHH arrived about 20 minutes ago.
Yesterday I photographed UR-ABA (Ukraine Airlines a319) and a French Gov't a319, as well as a Japan Air Force 747-400 and know that there is a Spain Air Force a310 that I missed.

I landed behind Yemenia flt#7000 last night... The ground controller didn't know what airline it was and had to use the three-letter ID code. The pilot also had a bit of trouble with the taxi instructions, but eventually figured it out. Following Yemenia on taxiway A was the Dreamlifer, nice view!

Quoting 757ops (Reply 3): Is there an Ethiopian Airlines flight in NYC?
Nope! I;m guessing we'll see an Ethiopian gov't aircraft anyday now!

Now that must've been cool! I've wanted to catch the Yemenia 74S for a while now. Also, I saw that Dreamlifter on the radar going to CHS at about 11:00pm ;last night so it must not have been here that long. Too bad you didn't get to see those rare 747s in daylight!

There is an Austrian 737 at HPN plus a couple of other's that i wasn't able to see who they belonged to. Jetblue also had 4 E190's parked up at the NetJets Hanger plus two on the gates.

Would love to know which SP the Iranians sent (out of EP_IAA, B, C and D). I've flown on Delta twice. Bravo, the one that had an emergency landing in PEK a few years back with no nose gear, is being parted out.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

wow I wish I was home.. That would be one fantastic catch.
Strange, I thought we sold those to a couple of African countries, and I would expect François Hollande to use the A330. But I guess it's possible the sell didn't go through and that ex PM Laurent Fabius, now foreign minister, and an entourage, came separately.
OK so I checked, one is sold to Senegal and the other to a company in Singapore. The French Air Force doesn't own any A320 family aircraft currently. Only A310/A330/A340.

Hey spiritair97, just an FYI, by no means a nitpik or a call out, the code used for the 747sp was 74L, I think the denotation 74S applies to a different model of the 747 family. IIRC it was the high density 747's flown on short routes like in Japan.
On a side note, just flew NK a couple weeks ago for the first time, Great on-time performance and nice crew.
Next Flights: AS PDX-SEA-KOA on DH4/738 in F, HA KOA-OGG on 717 in Y, AS OGG-PDX on 738 in F

We caught a couple of the government aircraft on Sunday. An Argentina AF 757, a South Africa 737 and the Russian State Transport IL-96. The Dreamlifter has made several stops this past week at JFK. We caught her departing on Wednesday the 19th after a brief stop.

Due to some parking restrictions, some planes are dropping their VIPs off in New York and parking at BWI. We had an Indonesian A333 come in on Sunday that's here for the week.

You are probably right, as you did your research. When I saw it, it seemed strange to me as well that they wouldn;t have used the a330.
Here is a picture of the plane in question:
Sorry for the quality, but can anybody help me figure out what country it is? It looks like it has a small French flag in front of the wing, but it could be Irish or Italian, too.
