What are the others doing ?

Who is #2 ?
Who is #3 ?
Who is #4 ?
Who is #5 ?
Who is #6 ?

If you know the flight departures for AA, DL, UA and US and any others please reply ASAP.

You will either love or hate the airline industry. If you love it, it will get in your blood and it will never leave.

Plus they will be adding 2 flight to DCA next month as well as EWR with the BWI service cuts.

I'd imagine DL is #2 and AA is #3, in terms of number of flights. Although, on a seat basis, it might be flip flopped, considering DL has a number of RJ flights and AA's flights are all mainline, save one.

Here's a snapshot from the week of October 22 - it's not perfect due to seasonal adjustments, but it's more or less accurate.

WN: 90+ peak day departures
UA: 37 peak-day departures (4x CLE, 5x DEN, 6x EWR, 4x IAD, 6x IAH, 11x ORD, 1x SFO)
DL: 34 peak-day departures (8x ATL, 3x CVG, 6x DTW, 1x JFK, 4x LGA, 3x MEM, 6x MSP, 3x SLC)
AA: 28 peak-day departures (3x DCA, 9x DFW, 3x LAX, 4x LGA, 1x MIA, 8x ORD)
9K: 26 peak-day departures (4x CGI, 3x IRK, 6x MWA, 3x OWB, 4x TBN, 6x UIN)
US: 17 peak-day departures (6x CLT, 5x PHL, 3x PHX, 3x PIT)
3E: 17 peak-day departures (2x BRL,
F9: 4 peak-day departures (1x CUN, 3x DEN)
AC: 2 peak-day departures (2x AS: 1 peak-day departure (1x SEA)

The order isn't the same by capacity. For example, UA only has a single mainline departure (1x SFO), whereas AA has 25 of its 28 flights on mainline (3x DCA is on MQ CR7s). Obviously Cape Air's 26 Cessna departures are also far less capacity than US's mix of 17 mainline and regional departures.

Peak TWA mainline departures was 350+.

Combined with Trans World Express, departures peaked at 530+.

Not to forget Frontier scheduled flights to STL-PUJ and (in January) STL-LIR. Or do they not count as peak day?

careful with that, as it doesn't lump in the regionals with the respective mainline brands.

You're correct, Frontier has several less-than-daily operations at STL. I was looking at a single week of October, and CUN just happened to be the one I showed. As it stands, STL-PUJ and STL-LIR are the two longest flights out of STL.

Not related to this topic per se, but since it is STL related and not wanting to start another thread I wanted to ask the locals has there been any more recent talk regarding the US movement from A to C freeing up additional space for DL and UA?

Thoughts?

Sorry for getting you depressed. I can see how you're getting depressed. 350+ daily mainline departures is mindboggling for European standards, even today.

You're not joking. I first flew into STL with TW in '98; ironically it appears that was pretty much TW's peak. I was there 3 weeks ago and C was utterly dead. From 500+ to the equivalent of 28. Wow. If I get time this weekend I'll post some then and now shots. Nice Schlafly's bar now on C concourse though.

I went thru STL yesterday (on WN) and was looking at the C and D concourses and remembering in late 90's when going there how busy it was with the TW -9s, 727s, and few 747s and L1011s. Plus the TWE parking lot. And the great old trailer park WN terminal lol.
On a side note. Had the worst airport food experience at the KFC that used to be in Concourse D.

Wow, thats because MCO is down about 20 flights! STL will be bumped out when all AirTran MCO flying comes in though. Plus ATL will be in the top 10 as well. By the end we probably won't see OAK or STL in the top 10 anymore (not that they are shrinking, just that others are expanding).

The fact that D has no traffic adds to the perception that C is dead. Should the Airport Authority elect to, at the very least, re-purpose concourse D or demo it, the facility would be given a totally different feel. Just letting things sit there and rot gives visitors a poor impression coming into and leaving the city. You can put all the paint on A, C, & E you want but the vacant, rotting gates is all visitors pay attention to and want to talk about in place of a pretty cool city.

Off my soapbox I go.

I totally agree. Now would be the perfect time to rebuild the whole concourse set up if they wanted. It would be good time in terms of relocating airlines as progress went on, etc. But I still enjoy going through there. And finally, not only a cool city, but home of the BEST MLB team!!*

*- IMO lol

STL-SAN is actually seasonal -- with a very strange pattern -- and the Saturday-only nonsense continues until January when the route will be completely discontinued. As of now, Sat-only service resumes with the 3/9/13 schedule and who knows if/when daily service will return after that... (This, mind you, on a city-pair that saw, even during 1Q12, an average PDEW of just a tad below 200!)

Especially when you depart/arrive out of the odd C gates or the D gates back when AA was temporarily there. Nothing is more depressing that seeing a very large, vacant facility with the very large, mostly empty tarmac area between the land side of C and D.

Yeah the tarmac area adds insult to injury. If it were a narrow corridor perhaps it wouldn't seem quite so despondent, but it looks terrible. And when I emphasize that the vacant space is all people want to talk about -- I mean it. All of my friends, family, and several co-workers make remarks like "what happened to the airport?" as opposed to talking about the great meal they just had on the Hill or in Soulard. It's just an enormous black eye for the city and a bigger problem than people give it credit for.

Sadly, they missed that chance when the tornado struck last year. It's cheaper to leave the buildings to rot, than demo it. Penny wise, Pound foolish if you ask me, but being stradled with the debt of a white elephant of a new(ish) hardly used runway on the other side of Bridgeton, isn't going to change the situation for years.
