I was able to go out on the ramp and watch the newest arrival to SEA, the ANA 787! We welcome you with open arms! ANA has replaced the daily 777 NRT-SEA flight with a 787. Lucky for me this is right across the ramp!

Here are some pictures I shot with my phone. I took some video, but won't be able to upload it until I get home. Enjoy!

Landing

approaching the water canons

the 767 was much, much louder than the 787. I was shocked how quiet the ANA taxied by, while I was wishing I had brought out my earplugs when the 767 screamed by.

I will post the video when I get home. The video shows the water canon salute, as well as the aircraft taxiing right in front of me, with the wingtip almost over my head. Very exciting stuff!

20+ years of engine development will do that!

HAL (still loving my 767's though!)

One smooth landing is skill. Two in a row is luck. Three in a row and someone is lying.

HOORAY!! Thanks for posting. Did it not get a water cannon salute?

I checked my reservation today on NH1077 (scheduled for 10/25 and it looks like both Chicawgo and I were assigned seats on a 2-4-2)!!

Looks promising!

Yes it did. After landing ,it had to wait a bit for them to get all squared away due to early arrival.

Yeah it did but I took video for it, not pictures. I'll post the video of it later when I get home. It's definitely worth a watch!

Great photos! I was hoping to catch her incoming to SEA this morning, but alas, the 34s were active today and as such, it didn't come in over the neighborhood. Look forward to catching her some other time in the near future! Can't wait to see the video.

Yeah it had hydraulics issues. A few of our systems engineers were actually taking a walk around underneath her when the techs said they were going to take a delay. Not exactly sure what the hydraulics problems were, though.

Here's the video. Sorry it took me so long (picnic on the boat took precedence)

Not a very good start for the 787. Ironically, Boeing couldn't provide a spare part to get that airplane off the ground. The Spares Building is across the street!!!

I hope the MX issues aren't anything serious. I'm planning on riding on board to go to Japan next year!

Very new bird. Maybe a few teething issues. Beautiful day to visit Seattle, though. We've only had .03" of rain since July.

With ANA service and advanced in-flight entermainment system on this 787 service, I'm sure the route will stay long with solid load factor.
Yup, can't wait for TYO-SJC later. Got ta be my choice for the next time to the bay area.

Let's just blame it on yields.

Local news reporting a problem with a cooling system valve though they also admit they haven't heard anything from ANA or Boeing. Good news in all this is that if they keep the current delay schedule we'll get to see two 787s at SEA today at the same time!

Hey April - I might want to come meet you - I'll IM you with my contact info (at work so won't have my personal cell ph on)

Might be cool to see a daily double - haven't photographed the ANA 787 yet, I'll get a 2nd chance it the first one doesn't work

Sorry you couldn't make it, Bob!

The 787 that arrived today went out around 1:45 and the one from yesterday left about 2:30. It was neat to hear the engines spool up - that was a nice reminder of first flight.
