An Iran Air Fokker F-100 (reg EP-CFE) lost one of the two nose gear wheels during takeoff at Tehran Mehrabad at the start of flight IR 208 to Ahwaz in Khuzestan. After circling to burn off fuel, they returned to Mehrabad for a safe landing. The brown substance seen spraying up from the main gear is not dirt (I was wondering at first why a nose gear fault would necessitate an off field landing!), it is actually brown-coloured foam and the landing was on the runway. In the video, even the touchdown on the mains is very carefully done. Nose is held off the runway as long as possible.
Another example of good airmanship from Iran Air pilots. I wonder to what extent the Fokkers are affected by sanctions. Of course the devaluing of the Iranian Rial due to actiosn to freeze the Islamic Republic out of the banking system has caused imports to double in price, but are Fokker (or their corporate successor/s who handle after-sales service) allowed to trade with Iran? I am pretty sure they can.
Anyway well done to Iran Air for a successful outcome to a challenging malfunction.
