ET have taken delivery of the first of five reconfigured Q400s. The interior setup is 7J/60Y.

By 'reconfigured' I am thinking these are 2nd-hand aircraft, but perhaps I missed an order announcement. When all five are delivered, ET's existing one-class fleet (eight) will get the same treatment.

I would not have thought there was a lot of demand for J out of ADD but clearly I'm wrong on this. So at the end of this process, ET will have 13 two-class Q400s serving regional routes out of ADD.

ET are clearly doing some interesting things, with service to NA now with 77Ls (YYZ and I believe now IAD), and have just accepted their first Dreamliner. I guess building ADD into a regional hub is a big goal. Good luck to them.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

The eight Q400 were already in the fleet, delivered to Ethiopian between 2010 and 2012, and configured Y78. The 5 are outstanding orders, delivered already with business class seats.

Others and myself were puzzled when the initial Q400s were ordered in a single class config back in 2010. As we had predicted, ET has now backtracked and will introduce a 2-class offering. KQ did the same mistake with the ERJs and had to retrofit them as well.

One of the original eight Q400s is with ASKY so I suspect it will also get the changes (with a ET Q400 as backfill till the change incorporation is done).

And some photos of Mount Kilimanjaro taken from ET's first 787 during a 4-hour sightseeing flight as part of the delivery events.
