According to schedule BD A330 will be operating BA662/3 LHR-LCA-LHR on behalf of BA from 6th October - 22nd October, instead of the usual B767-300.
Have BD flights to Saudi Arabia terminated? So a A330 becomes available?
I guess it's to do with the current B767 refurbishment programme?

Strange! I thought that the A330s were being returned ASAP.
It must be due to the refurbishment programme. I assume it will be BD crews operating these as no BA crew are able to operate the A330

That's what I thought too. But I saw her parked by the maintenance hangar at LHR just last week so I was wondering why they didn't get rid of it just yet.
I'm guessing it's going to operate in it's all white livery. I would love to see it in BA colors but I guess that's a bit far fetched..

Me too but it looks like it's never going to happen
On a similar note, I wonder if BA had expected that some of it's longhaul 767s would of been released by the arrvial of 787s by now which could of releived some of the issues that they're havign with avialbility.

I wish BA will operate the 330 to BEY. Read an article that they will be using A-321 just like BD used to, but completely refurbished with lie flat in First/Business and AVOD in all classes. I want to start flying BA again, but a narrowboy to BEY is too "narrow" for me. They should match MEA A-330. Here's the link:

My father flew in from Beirut to London this morning on Ba8183 and said that the service was fantastic, plus the refurbed A321 but he said no duty free and no bread rolls! I really expected Beirut to go to at least a 767 but at least they didn't cancel the route

I flew BA8183 and i did have a choice of white/brown rolls and Duty Free.
I also noted that the A330 operated to BEY last week due to a cancelation

Did you fly in on this morning's service? Perhaps he wasn't offered one. I was flying SFO to LHR in Eco plus with vs and the flight attendant walked past my seat without offering me a roll from the warm roll selection.
I'm a bit of a carb addict so was miffed!

Last I checked BA/BD was running the LHR-ALA-ATQ. And it seems that they will cease to operate ATQ, further, which is probably in the greatest of intentions because yields are most likely horrible!

Doh... You really got my hopes up!
I am flying LHR-LCA and back at the end of November and returning early December and have been reading the negative press about the short haul 767-300's and how they are looking very tired and only a limited number have been refurbed, so the chances of me flying on one are slim.
I love the A330, but suppose I'll just have to get use to flying a tired and beat up old short haul 767 in November.

bmi are operating the only 2 A321's with the refurbed cabins so I think it would of been one with the old cradle seats in? Unfortunately there will be no duty free on any BA A321 midhaul flight due to the lack of space onboard. Bread should definitely of been offered in CW though & I believe it comes on the tray in WT.

The last bmi [revenue] flight is BD928 GYD-LHR on 28th October.

They did. G-WWBM operated LHR-BEY-LHR (BD907/06) on 24/25 September! But now it is operating to LCA that looks very much like a one-off.
Here is what "The BA Source" web site is saying about the situation:
"bmi A330-200 G-WWBM operated the BA662/BA663 London Heathrow – Larnaca rotation today [6 October] and is scheduled to operate the route daily until 22nd October. This will ease pressure on the Boeing 767-300ER fleet which has five aircraft out of service; G-BNWA under maintenance at London Heathrow, G-BNWD which remains at Calgary following a technical issue on September 25th, G-BNWR under maintenance at London Heathrow, G-BNWV undergoing refurbishment at Cardiff-Wales and G-BZHB undergoing refurbishment at London Gatwick."
Note that G-BNWA and G-BZHB are both con figured for short-haul operations while G-BNWD, 'WR and 'WV are long-haul configured.

Really not enough room to operate duty free on an A321? How is that so? The Lebanese are extravagant shoppers- particularly aftershaves and cigarettes, feel this is a missed opportunity for them.
I know when MEA run their duty free service (which they also offer on A321 and A320) it takes about an hour to pass from one end of the aircraft to the other with people shopping. How many trolleys does it take?

I've just operated my first BEY flight as BA crew (after operating many as bmi crew). The 'legacy' BA crew were coming up with loads of ideas to pack the galley more efficiently, using smaller meal trays in World Traveller (like on a BA short haul band 4 flight or like bmi used to use), and within minutes came up with enough space to store a cart of duty free. This is all being fed back to the relevant department, so hopefully things will change

In Club World, warm bread is served from bread baskets, in World Traveller bread is loaded on the meal tray, as BA don't offer warm bread unlike bmi (although the rest of the meal is nicer!)

That's what he said, now warm rolls. I think he has been used to them in the past!
He said that the meal was nice but small- some kind of meat balls with rice.
Will the a321s be dedicated to the Beirut route or could it see an upgrade if loads permitted?
Like in the summer?
Also, is the crew hotel still up in Basalim? I know some crew didn't like it there as it was in the sticks!

Quoting by738 (Reply 19): She's still in full BMI colours as of Monday morning.
Partial colours
G-WWBM is in partial colours after a STAR ALLIANCE removal, G-WWBD remains in full BMI blue. They are still operating both A332s though it seems LCA will be seeing G-WWBM.
