Why Did US Keep PIT-STL?

Didnt realize but came across it today that US still oprates (on TransStates and US Express) a non stop flight between PIT and STL. Is there some sort of business ties that exist to keep this flight around? I realize STL is a base for Trans States, do they fly this to rotate aircraft in for their flight from PIT to BDL and RDU?

AX flies all three routes at risk. Fares on PIT-STL are pretty high, about the same as PHL-STL even though it's quite a bit shorter.


I can't decide whether I miss the tulip or the bowling shoe more
