As you can see, the steel structure is now rising up, giving a better impression of how the terminal will look.

Background:
They're building a new terminal complex in JED to replace current passenger terminals. Phase 1 to be complete end of 2014 with capacity of 30MAP.

Not much interest here. In any case, here's an update on the civil works on the project (aprons & taxiways, airside roads, GSE tunnel):

A lot of work is being done

The aerial pics are very interesting.

Do you know what they plan to do with the current South-North terminals (I assume the beautiful Hajj terminal will be kept for Hajj anyway... I hope!)? I have watched the video but I can't understand Arabic. Isn't the new terminal in the same area where the private jet terminals were located?

Yes, the old "Arabasco" terminal and ramp were demolished to make room for the new terminal complex. A new GA ramp and terminal were constructed just south of the western half of the Hajj terminal (which will remain in use).

All scheduled operations will be transfered to the new terminal complex. The south terminal will eventually be demolished to make way for the cargo village (phase 1 of the cargo village won't require it though). The north terminal may be used as a GA/charter terminal in the future.

Thanks.... now I know the new building you are talking about... I didn't know that it was the new GA terminal.

Nice to see JED is finally getting a new airport terminal, the current ones are horribly outdated.

So far so good!  It's cool to see that the new terminal is taking shape.

As far as I know, runway 34C/16C will be back in operation after this first phase of the new terminals project is complete.

It would be sweet if a restaurant that serves masoub would open up in the new terminal, such as Jeddah Zaman.

Follow your dream.

It's long overdue. It will make a huge difference to passengers once it's done.

Armed with that champion of breakfasts you can take on any journey  !
I'd like to see a large choice of local food served at the airport. With 670,000 sqm of space, there's plenty of room.

Can't wait to go to JED on board the A380 without the mess that take place on the immigration and baggage reclaim. Above all the air bridge that will solve the problem.

Good to see this finally happening. I've been seeing renderings and proposals for a new JED complex for the last decade or so. Hopefully this will help Saudia offer a better experience.

Which is a bigger operation for Saudia, JED or RUH?
