New Polar Air Cargo Service Between NY And Sweden

Aug 30, 2001

Polar Air Cargo has announced a new weekly B747 freighter service from New York JFK to Gothenburg, Sweden.

The flight will depart JFK at Friday evening and arrive in Gothenburg at Saturday morning.

The return is scheduled to depart Gothenburg at Saturday afternoon and arrive at JFK the same day. The Eastbound flight will also serve Polar's Prestwick, Scotland facility.

"We're pleased to offer this weekly, same-day service to the European freight forwarding community. The Saturday afternoon arrival at JFK enables our customers to arrange for early Monday morning delivery to many U.S. destinations," said Peter Burn, Vice President Sales the Americas.

I believe the acquisition of Polar by Atlas Air takes effect this fall.

This route is not new but the service has been operated with Polarair 747 for Finnair Cargo but Finnair decided to drop Polar iand use Evergreen instead.
Polar air then decided to run the service on its own.

Seems a bit confusing. I've seen Polar Air Cargo two times at GOT so far, June 9th and August 13th. So it's not a new route, but it's nice that it wont be dropped  Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

Just like birdwatching - without having to be so damned quiet!
