Can anyone tell me for sure whether or not Eastern still had a MIA crew base when they closed their doors in January of 1991. I am well-aware they still had both F/A's and Pilots there right after the strike, but I am not sure if it lasted until the very end.
Looking at their timetable in December of 1990, the only destinations served non-stop from MIA with jet equipment were ATL, LGA, DCA, PBI, STT, STX, SJU, YYZ, CUN and LAX. A far cry from the days when they had nearly 200 flights a day from the airport. The February 1991 OAG displayed a planned further reduction with the LAX and PBI flights ending and being served only from ATL.
Yesterday I spoke with a former EAL F/A and she told me the MIA base closed in June of 1990. I always thought they had kept it open. Now I am not so sure.
