Air India's newly-acquired Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft started its long-haul international operations on Monday with a flight to Frankfurt. "Air India's Dreamliner to Frankfurt marks a new era of its operations with the state-of-the-art aircraft on the long haul routes as well," a statement from the national carrier said.
The flight (AI 121) from Delhi to the German city took off from the IGI airport in New Delhi with Captain A Soman in Command and Captain Nikhil Dongre as co-pilot, the statement said.

Quoting aeroblogger (Reply 5): AI 787s are delivered CHS-FRA-DEL, because AI's Euro ops/dispatch is in FRA, and AI carries cargo on delivery flights.
The 787 will serve FRA for the duration of stage 2 familiarization, which will take place until it is time for Australia service.
Yes you are right. But looking at their current situation, Australia still remains a distant dream!
Anyways, anybody managed to get a few pictures of it in FRA? The only thing I love about AI is their livery! Bloody amazing! Rest...i'll leave it upto you'll to decide

Just me, or is FRA the unofficial 787 "hub"? (well, discounting PAE...where several ones that need rework are sitting on the ground!) IIRC, NH's first long distance 787 route was HND-FRA, and now AI, too...and hasn't ET sent theirs there?
Celebrating the birth of KELPkidJR on August 5, 2009 :-)
