OHNY: TWA Flight Center

From the Open House NYC. Just an epic look at the current state of renovation of the head house. I could stare at this all day.

Compare this with the current state of Terminal 3.

Oh, goody, let's bash Terminal 3.

Comparing a derelict terminal to a fully functioning one seems a bit odd.

Don't worry folks, T3 be gone soon enough. Then you'll complain that there's nothing to complain about.

I was just in T3 last night - it was sad and this sadness was reinforced when the Airtrain passed by the Flight Center, which looked so perfect.

Glass half full says you can restore T3. We already lost T6, lets not lose another.

Didn't T5 have red carpet everywhere when TWA operated it?
Great photos, thanks for pointing those out to us. The renovation makes T5 look so stark and white. It kind of actually amplifies the architecture.

Clearly it is still under renovation. The floor covering looks like concrete in parts, carpet in others.

I agree. In the old Eero Saarinen TWA terminal one can almost envision Boeing 707s parked just outside the windows and businessmen in suits with hats and thin ties walking through the almost Star Trek-like red carpeted corridors out to their aircraft. The early 60s frozen pristinely in time.

By contrast, in Delta's Terminal 3 there is a cheap garish look of a once-proud testimony to flight having fallen into something approximating an aviation ghetto.
