I can tell you that I flew LH463 on Aug 12, MIA-FRA on 747-400 and we had AVOD. In reading Skytrax reviews, I'm lead to believe that the routes to South America/India are probably the last to get the upgrade. It is a nice improvement from my previous trips from LAX and MIA to FRA. Maybe you might consider trying to arrange an itinerary that includes either the B747-8 or A380? Now that would be awesome.

At time of booking, I was hoping LH was going to deploy their 748 to ORD by then . But it seems I'll be a couple of months too early. As LAX will be the next LH 748 route.

Quoting EuroPL (Thread starter): 1. What is the current status of the LH 747 retrofit, I'm curious how many of the 744 have PTV's in Y now?
Here's a good source for that kind of information: http://www.lh-taufnamen.de/lufthansa/ Just scroll down to the section on 744s and check how many have "PTV in Eco". Currently, it states that all but six 744s offer the feature.
I do beg your pardon, but why would you read those?

I flew DEL-FRA in June and FRA-GRU just recently, both LH 744s had AVOD in eco - in June, that was luck, but in October I almost expected it due to the high number of refitted aircraft.

Do the interior mods of a 747-4, match the interior mods of the A340-3? I was traveling LH a few months ago from GIG to FRA on an old A340 and was lucky enough to use a United cert to upgrade to first. the change in both premium cabis is monumental. I was not able to tell if the Y seats were new also when I did a walk-through.
I always thought LH had a better economy seat than the vast majority, and even looked beautiful when you boarded. Did LH upgrade everything? Something I personally think is so needed today. No more of those UA 747 Y seats, or Delta, or TAM etc. Yes, Y is a commodity but also flys the greatest amount of people and people who generate word of mouth.
If i was CEO, I'd make sure my airline had as much of an awesome economy section as financially possible.
Good luck, I hope you get the best ride ever!
The world is missing love, let's use our flights to spread it!

DEL and BLR have 7478i so they have AVOD for sure.
Ive seen many times BOM getting 744 with the new F,J, and Y with AVOD.
So this says that LH probably shuffles the aircraft for their flights, so its not "confirmed" that which 744 aircraft you will fly on until you're inside it.

Yes, the entire seat is new and - thank heavens - features a brochure/magazine compartment above the tray table, which means that you get about an inch of extra space for your legs.
I don't know about the A343s, it's been a while since I've been on one... poor Golf Kilo has since been sold. They do, however, seem to feature the dreaded paper-where-your-knees-should-be kind of seatback:
