-TK will finish the year with 32 new destinations
-TK pax numbers will reach 40mil this year and expected to be 46mil next year.

Impressive goals indeed. Not to beat a dead horse, but without the 3rd airport (for which no tender has been held yet) these will be impossible to achieve. They could see huge delays and massive passenger backlash without better / larger facilities.

Where are they accommodating all those new passengers?

The last few times I flew through IST, it was unbelievable overcrowded.

that is definetly what I think..

Also TK should have more wide bodies. last time when I flew to London there was no place in 737.. pilot even told me that they are always full to London 3 times a day..

without a new airport, the only way out is reducing foreign carriers flying into IST, or reducing slot use for domestic shuttle to free up spaces and gates and transferring lots of domestic to Sabiha

Well, now that this is done we can wait on the single aisle order.

We have seen over the last decade how flexible TK can be. I have a feeling they will find some genius ways to improve IST till the new one is finished. Maybe moving more ops to SAW if it gets really bad and transferring people between IST and SAW.

In a few years TK will have substantial size large WB fleet. TK already uses WBs to London, heck even to ADB. As you might know, a full plane doesn't necessarily means a profitable route. It needs to make financial sense to use WB in a route. You have to think about cargo. TK has to take in consideration the slow winter months, fuel costs, maintenance, crew costs while fleet planning. That is why airplane manufacturers have tons of different combinations/series of the same aircraft. I am sure when the time is right TK will fly 332/333 to many short/medium haul routes.

WHAT?!? I knew TK was growing quick, but I thought the number would be about half that (ok, maybe up to twenty).

Impressive, but they need the infrastructure.

Someone please tell me there has been some progress on the new airport if that is to happen... I see huge potential for TK, but that will require the 5-runway proposed 3rd airport.

Just ordered. 15+5options:
TK Orders 15+5 77W (by leftyboarder Oct 22 2012 in Civil Aviation)

the only way out is reducing foreign carriers flying into IST,

Which violates bilaterals which means TK couldn't fly the route and other trade would be at risk. TK needs the new airport ASAP.

Lightsaber
