CO 777 IAH-EWR - See Ya

Why is CO dropping the 77 service between IAH-EWR and viceversa on Sep. 5. And replacing it with an MD-80? Ususally service between 2 hubs is in demand and airliners fly heavies.

62 is becoming an MD80 on IAH-EWR running at 228pm, but there is a new flight 50 with a 762 that runs at 115pm which replaces the 777.

It happens all the time. UA, for example, commonly switches between 763ERs and 772s on thier MIA-LAX/ORD/DEN/SFO/IAD routes.

the 777 was used to reposition aircraft as far as I remember, and this is no longer needed

CO was also perhaps relying on the 777's capacity to move travellers between IAH and EWR hubs for the
busy summer travel season, which is now winding
down. Using the 777 on the route was also done to
reposition aircraft and maybe this is not needed any
more.
