Many think that Oslo Airport, Gardermeon changed the IATA code to OSL the night between 7 and 8 October 1998, but it had the code already as Color Air started their from Gardermoen on 1 August 1998. Tickets for the Color Air flights were sold a few days before the first flight too, and they were issued with OSL on them. I guess the OSL code was assigned sometime during the build process. 1 Janaury 1997 could be a safe bet since at that date Oslo Lufthavn AS took over the operation of the old Oslo Airport, Fornebu (FBU) too.
