Here are the cities reachable on published service as of April 14. Some cities like BOS and BUR are only reachable in one direction on one day of the week, so I'll leave those omitted as that's not a viable option for the traveling public in most cases. Connections available daily in both directions unless noted, and inbound for example would be SJU-ALB:

ALB (except inbound on Saturdays)
ABQ (only on weekdays)
ATL (except inbound on weekends)
AUS (Satuday only)
BWI
BHM
BUF (except inbound on weekends)
MDW
CMH
DAL (except Saturday inbound)
DEN
FNT
FLL
BDL
HOU
MCI
LAS
ISP
LAX (except outbound on Sundays)
MHT (saturday only SJU-MHT, daily MHT-SJU)
BNA
MSY
ORF (Saturday only)
OMA (Saturday only OMA-SJU, daily SJU-OMA)
PHL
PHX
PIT (Saturday only)
PVD
RDU (SJU-RDU daily except Saturday, daily RDU-SJU)
ROC (SJU-ROC daily except Sunday, daily ROC-SJU)
STL
SAN (SJU-SAN daily except Satuday, daily SAN-SJU)
SFO (weird schedule, inbound not available on weekends, outbound only available on weekends)
TUL (Saturday only)

The cities that have multiple daily flights to MCO and TPA are obviously the lucky ones. It's interesting how some cities are available on certain days of the week due to the Saturday schedule being different as well as Sunday's in some cases.

Yikes--terrible flow fares on top of a local market that even NK looked at and said, "ew, gross." Good luck WN.

FLL/BWI/ATL will continue on FL. I was worried that they were going to cut ATL, but I'm pleased it appears to be staying for the long term. They probably would have cut it now and made SJU a WN-only station if ATL weren't in their longer term plan for SJU.

I would think it is still something to be determined. However, ATL is likely going to remain a substantial station for WN going forward.

Glad this one is finally out now though. I'm shocked most people were able to bite their tongues on this the last few days until it was public.

TPA-SJU is a very strong market, and supports both FL/WN and B6 service. This was previously a very high-priced route on AA and it has grown significantly from both MCO and TPA since FL/WN began service and offered lower fares.
The timings for TPA-SJU-TPA do not work well for connections to the cruise ship traffic so those folks will default to B6, drive to MCO or route via ATL, CLT, or MIA on DL, US and AA. Overall WN will do very well with the SJU service.

Here's the official release:

http://swamedia.com/releases/1a3ba882-50d9-4852-b509-39b216ba9902

Excerpt:

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) now offers for sale nonstop service from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Orlando and Tampa Bay, for travel beginning on Sunday, April 14, 2013. Beginning in April, Southwest will operate three daily nonstop flights between Orlando and San Juan and one daily nonstop flight between Tampa Bay and San Juan, as the carrier transitions these routes from AirTran-operated city pairs. To celebrate the new San Juan service, Southwest announced a fare sale of $99* one-way between these markets. These fares must be booked by Nov. 7, 2012, for travel between Monday, April 15, 2013, and Thursday, May 23, 2013 (Friday and Sunday travel is excluded).

Yield sucks and demand is far lower than the route's overcapacity. That's not a "very strong" market. It was a strong market with AA - because one daily 738 is perfectly in line with demand.

How do the SJU flights play into Southwest's philosophy of never connecting more than twice for a flight? SJU is excellent news for WN, but will be a very very long day if you're connecting from LAX, BOI, GEG, SMF, etc.....

Looks like the policy continues, if WN can't get you to SJU in one connection or less they will not sell you the routing. Since many don't have a non stop or a one stop to MCO or TPA from the west coast many won't even be sold.

I have to assume as BWI, ATL switch over more options will be available.

Exactly what I'm thinking. So far LAX-SJU will take 12:05 to do, and the return will be 13:45. For comparison, LAX-AKL is 12:45 and LAX-LHR is 10:15.

B6 will.

WN will be a formidable carrier To the islands vs. from the Islands.

Like Atrude777 pointed out, anything requiring more than 1 plane change won't be sold. Doesn't mean you can't do it, you just have to build it yourself and then ask for the airport staff at your origin if they can check your bags all the way through.

That is why B6 is adding a third daily flight this upcoming spring? If the yields and demand were as low as you say, why would B6 add more capacity when the could utilize that aircraft elsewhere on another route. Am I saying that the route merits 4 daily flights, no. That being said there clearly must be more demand and greater yields than what you are assuming.

No official word on it yet. Not sure if there is some additional F/A training that needs to happen or not since those would likely purely over water flights.

The majority of connecting passengers will likely be from the east coast instead of the west coast any way. West coast tends to stay more to the likes of Hawaii and SJD, where as the east coast tends to go to the Caribbean.

If SJU-HOU comes online the only city that will likely be helped out at all on that list is LAX. None of the others have flights to HOU and thus won't be offered due to the one connection only rule.

WN crews have not and that is who would be operating it, not FL crews. I think it is only a matter of time before it is moved to the WN network, but they can't just plug FL F/As into them. Union contracts and all. If I'm wrong on that, someone will correct me.
