I don't know exactly how much they are paid, but I heard on the news earlier this year that they are some of the highest paid pilots.

Can anyone from DL confirm this?

WN's are payed the least by far. They do however get paid by the trip as opposed to by the hour. They fly alot more trips than your average carrier too. Maybe this explains why WN's aircraft seem to haul butt on the ground while the other guys are usually barely moving along the taxi ways.  Big grin

I believe I can fly.....

Delta and United pilots recently became the highest paid in the US. Your pay depends on which seat you hold on a specific aircraft type and your senority. I'm guessing and being very general here but I'd say the top 20% of the seniority list is making over 200K a year. The bottom 20% is probably making under 100K and the rest is between 100K and 200K.

Delta's 777 pilots will top out at $327/hr at the end of the current contract, which is the highest hourly rate currently negotiated in a pilot collective bargaining agreement.

Yes, I know A340-500. I believe that DL's pilots are some of top paying pilots in the world, as well as UA's pilots. BA's pilots are probably up there too. I am just guessing though.

A340-500, if your so determined that Cathay is best paid then you should look at HKAOA web site (search for it via google) and there is a graphic comparison of salaries of Cx pilots based in the US and UK, and all CX crew is paid less than what others like UA, Ba, etc are offering, the info is all there.

Cathay crew used to be the best paid,...they no longer are.

I can give you some insight in salary scales of major European airlines:

A study recently showed that in Europe pilots at Lufthansa and Air France are certainly the best paid.
Compared to USA standards they rank at a level equal or even better then the US top 3 companies.

KLM is a good 3rd, but has a very demanding flat rate (or max. duty time) regulation.

Swissair, Iberia (under the newly proposed agreement), SAS and Sabena are all reasonably good runners-up. Salaries at these companies are somewhat lower then you'd expect, but the monthly flat rates (duty times) are only about half of what is common in the USA.

Strangely enough, BA is actually quite low on the scale.

DL 777 captains are the world's most paid pilots. They make $351 per h. Their annual income is around 300 to 400 k.

P.S. If you want more info. ask DeltaSFO. His dad is a 777 captain for DL.

Hi 777-500ER,
Delta has indeed high salaries and offers the best salaries in the USA, but I can assure you that there are several companies worldwide which offer even better pay to their flight crews!

Cathay Pacific for instance.

Also Gulf Air, Emirates, and Qartar Airways have very attractive offers for flight crew. If you take into account all non-financial extras like a really huge villa with pool and tennis court, a yacht, and a full hospitalisation insurance, the total income of pilots at these airlines is about dubble of that at Delta.
Sadly, they only offer you a 5-year contract after which you'll have to leave the company. (As far as I know.)

Comming to think of it, I'd better spend my time writing a resume i.s.o. all this nonsense  Wink/being sarcastic

It all depends what you consider as "salary"? flat per hour rate? The best paid commercial airline pilots are the CX senior captains that started flying for CX in 80's ( they signed so called rate A)- over $400K year. Unfortunatelly CX dont sign contracts with this A rate anymore. It is weird now, cause every pilot signing with CX now, signs for different pay. That is why CX pilots are not so happy now. They cant be sure about nothing! CX menagement changes salaries all the times.
In USA DL and United are the best paid. Although NW is right behind. I know NW's 747 instructor with 20 years experience- $347K/year!
The best paid pilots i know of are corporate pilots in middle east. I have heard about salaries over $1M/year!!!!!

best regional airline salaries are with ACA. I know a captain ( 5 year experiece) making almost $100K/year flying CRJ.

Well, you know, it really all depends on what/how you compare...

Do you compare our yearly income (thus including all extras at the end of the year); do you simply look at what we get at the end of a normal month, or even worse, do you simply look at how much we make per hour?
Are additional crew allowances included or not?
Do you look at our income before or after taxes?
Is social security and hospitalization insurance included?
etc. etc. etc.

You see, a lot of factors can cause a change in the the ranking of best paid pilots.

As a general rule I can assure you that if you make it to the (glass)cockpit of any airline with somewhat of a reputation in the industry, you won't have to worry how to pay your bills at the end of the month...

I've heard 747 captains make about 250k a year after all that what Sabenapilot said has had its affect.

Ive never heard or seen asalary above 261k. and ive benn to alot of aviation sites and the best Corporate pilot pay ive seen was 101k.

1million sounds pretty unrealistic because most if not all corporate pilots dont fly as much.

They dont fly in really bad weather.

and there is less people on board and i dont think a company would pay a million dollars on a pilot. and if they can afford that they probly have many pilots, so it just doesnt make any sense buisisness wise to pay that much money.

mabey a a-380 or sonic cruiser pilot might get paid that much

my 2 cents worth
