TK upgrading Kabul to twice weekly A330-300 from 9 December, other five remain A320 says airlineroute, very interesting development, I thought Afghanistan did not allow foreign carriers to operate anything larger than A320 and 737-800.

I was surprised to find any airlines flying to Kabul. I was shocked to find that FlyDubai fly there.

I'm hoping to get there one day but not till things calm down there.

Not surprising, Turkish Airlines is the only decent carrier that operates into Kabul. Ok, there is Gulf Air but their network is not as wide as TK's.

Have you not been browsing these forums? wikipedia has an accurate list of scheduled operators to KBL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabul_airport

I dont think the place has had it this good even in the best of times, and the number of charter flights for troops and cargo are yet unaccounted for Kaltta, World Airways, Etihad Cargo, Emirates Cargo, Atlas Air, are some regulars, TK Cargo also flew there for a while with their new A330F.

Gulf Air was more of a surprise, though even Qatar were to fly there from 2004, still who would have imagined GF there.

China Southern And Hainan airlines were also to fly there but didnt happen

Now defunct LTU operated some charters to KBL in 2003 which a big deal at the time, they ussed A332.
