Is Ryanair successful in Paris?
Beauvais airport is very far away from Paris, and I think Ryanair should move to ORY or CDG.
People I know and who want to fly a LCC will not even look at Ryanair due to the distance to Beauvais, and then, they choose EasyJet which operate from both ORY and CDG.

No way, it will make the tickets much too expensive. I prefer a 4 euro return into Beauvais over a 75 euro into CDG. Btw, there is enough to see and do in the Beauvais region, no need to go to Paris. And indeed, if Paris is what you want you can fly Easyjet.

Both ORY and CDG are way too expensive and slot restrictive, I do not believe RYR are considering that option. AFAIK, Wizz Air requested slots at ORY but after further calculation they decided to stay at BVA.
At ORY and CDG ground handling is also relatively expensive. I made a calculation last year and find out, that for 180-seater operations to ORY are 35EUR per departing passenger more costly than BVA.

I agree that CDG and ORY are likely to crowded and too expensive for FR.
And who says Aéroports de Paris even wants to see Ryanair there? ADP are not exactly desperate for additional traffic.

Your signature suggests you' may have read it already, but if not, then I think you would enjoy the book "Ruinair" by Paul Kilduff.
Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

Beauvais is cheap and relatively empty....perfect for a cheapo airline. If you want quality, fly business from CDG or ORY> If you want cheaper, fly economy, or U2. If you want cheaper (and definately less quality), fly FR from BVA.
I met up with a friend last year in Paris. I took the Eurostar from London, and she flew FR from Dublin to BVA. her flight was EUR 50 compared to EUR 150 on AF to CDG....if you're trying to save money, you have to go with awkwardly located airports.
FR and BVA are serving a market....just not yours.

Beauvais is 1h15 minutes from Paris-Porte Maillot on a shuttle bus. Si, if you coming from the western part of the Paris area (for example La Defense area) it is no so far. But it is always depending on what you want. For me Beauvais is simple but convenient.

I don't need to like them to fly them, I like their fares though. Just booked 8-9 Dec Budapest - Gothenburg for 1 euro return, lol. Crazy fares, in a weekend, 4 weeks before departure..

You mean that FR would actually fly to the city I would actually recognize? That would increase the fare though and not give the other transport companies a chance to gouge you for their 1-2 hour trip in to the edge of town from the remote airstrip FR lands at.

I'm not familiar with the infrastructure, as it's been a while since I was in Paris, but does LBG have the facilities to handle commercial air service?

FR must be happy at BVA because I don't recall them ever having a 'spat' with them. Given the extent of their disclosure if they aren't happy, their silence seems conspicuous.

Just saw that! USD$0.58 one-way all-in for BUD-GSE (funnily enough, closer to central Gothenburg than GOT) - a 778-mile as-the-crow-flies sector. Not bad.
"Everyone writing for the Telegraph knows that the way to grab eyeballs is with Ryanair and/or sex."
I used BVA a couple of times (August 2007, return flight) and the airport was packed like I have never seen any other. I mean, check-in queues literally trespassed the entrance door, and the air side was packed from the gates to the security check (literally from the terminal entrance to the gates there was no space at all). Granted it was peak August season, but I have traveled a fair amount of airports in August and I never ever seen anything remotely similar to that. It was unbelievable, I can't even think how the number of people inside would be legal under fire or health regulations. And there was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of delayed or cancelled flights.
I think my worst airport experience ever (not to mention how far - even for Ryanair's standards - it is from Paris).

It's going to be very cold.
Anyway, Kilduff's book is more of a travelogue than a critique of Ryanair. He's a fan. And the quote in your signature is one of the many found in his book. That's why I think you might like it.
I originally bought it because this is what the cover looks like:

Would this be a viable option for the ULCCs?
LBG is the main Paris's business airport. In no way you will see a Ryanair 737 next to the dozens of GV, Glex or BBJ...
Le Bourget isn't a commercial airport anymore since quite a long time now.

I wonder how much investment would be required to turn Melun Villaroche (LFPM) into a viable LCC airport, for, say, 4 or 5 daily turnarounds...
It's closer to Paris than Beauvais and not too far from Disneyland.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit posting...

Ha, sorry, when I said Beauvais was relatively empty, I meant for the airline, not the pasengers. Not slot restricted, easy to open new routes as the tarmac isn't saturated with hundreds of other airlines. The state of the terminal isn't of much concern to FR.

I believe scheduled flights have been banned at LBG since 1980. I think it now handles more bizjet flights than any other airport in Europe, followed by GVA.
