I check, and there is an achived thread about this, but that was about the LOI for the Boeing order.
MI has firmed up their order with Boeing for 23 B-737-800s and 31 B-737-8MAXs. These B-737s will fly along side of WI's current fleet of 6 A-319s and 16 A-320s (which were new orders from 2006). Airbus has 2 more A-320s to be delivered and SilkAir holds 4 options.
SilkAir also now has 14 options for the B-737-8MAX.

I will be flying to YGN in a few weeks, but both my legs are on SQ, will have to try Silk another time.
And, it is soooooo difficult to book internal Myanmar flights, I am about to give up and hire a car to take me YGN to Bagan. But very much looking forward to visiting Myanmar.

what a strange move by Silkair to change to 737 (which no airline of the SQ group is currently operating, by the way).
I bet it was a decision made by mother SQ to keep the balance between A and B in their fleet, after having ordered the A380 + top up, the A330 recently twice, the A350 top up. Any thoughts?

No, it had to do with availability. Airbus was also in negotiation with Philippines for a large A320/A330 order, and had reserved slots for them. That one was quite a contest with Boeing, and Airbus didn't think Silkair would seriously consider ordering 737s. So they put all their efforts getting the Philippines order (which was successful), and were shocked to find out Silkair actually did order 737s....

I was just going to comment that 31 + the 969 already ordered yields 1000 orders for the Max. But that would have been wrong. I checked and these 31 were already amongst the 969 before this news release, so that is where it stands for the MAX.
However, it does push all 737 orders (NG & MAX) above 1000 for the year.

Yes, it's near impossible to use any flight search engine to book an internal Myanmar flight over the internet. Heck, even flying back home from US is difficult enough for me to find flights on Kayak, Expedia, etc. I have to go to each airline's website and look for the best fare!
But not to be disappointed there are plenty of tour companies in Yangon that will hook you up a good domestic airfare with one of the airlines. They might even get you a package deal if you're talking about Bagan-Nyaung-U. And usually the fares are fixed too so there's not much "buy early and get a cheap fare" kinda thing. Besides it'll be a great opportunity for you to fly those (now) rag-tag ATRs. I'd recommend Air Mandalay (6T) of the bunch cause they have French engineers doing the mx work on the planes still.
But if you're thinking about renting a car good luck with that with all the potholes on the highway, decades-old cars and not to mention sky-high gas price there.

Boeing has 1031 firm orders for the B-737 family, so far for 2012. I see that Boeing finally firmed up the B-787-9BBJ/VIP for the Mexican Air Force-1 (Mexican Presidential airplane).
