Israeli Tension And TLV .

With the Tension mounting in Israel and rocket fire being aimed at TLV . Should DL , UA , and US suspend flts there for the time being until things calm down ? I am working over to TLV tomorrow the 19 on US . Contemplating getting off my trip but don't know yet .

I haven't heard of rockets actually being fired at TLV Airport itself, but obviously that can't be ruled out.

I think airlines will be in touch with their insurers and of course, the State Department and Homeland Security Dept, monitoring the situation on a very regular basis. If they had to divert inbound flights, I'm sure they would.

I see that KL has added a LCA stopover on its TLV flights; I guess this is to allow the flight to stop off at LCA if things get back and deplane pax there?

US issued a travel waiver for TLV "Philadelphia's largest airline said passengers ticketed for travel to Tel Aviv Nov. 16-19 can change their flight to travel instead Nov. 17-26 without a $150 per ticket change fee. The penalty will be waived"

AF and KLM replace crew at LCA. Their crews don't sleep at the moment in Israel.

Beside that all traffic into and out of TLV is "pushed" north.

Flew into TLV on 15th on DL268 and returned on DL 269 on 18th encountered no problems at airport or our
layover hotel. Both flights were over 90% full.

I would imagine airlines are not going to stop flying to Israel unless the airlines of origins country advises against travel...

I notice UK airlines are still flying and they have nothing mentioned at all on their websites about alternations or relaxed travel policies on the routes.

It maybe completely unrelated, but notice on the arrivals page of easyJet their TLV-LTN flight this evening is running 47 minutes behind schedule stating "Delay due to air traffic control restrictions". Not sure is this is related to the rocket attacked and routes they are operating into and out of TLV.

easyJet will not be effected with having to base crew in TLV overnight as the same crews operate both the inbound and outbound routes from their respected bases to TLV.

The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth office is giving the below advice of travel to Israel:

This advice has been reviewed and reissued with amendments to the Travel Summary (military operations in and around Gaza and travel to the West Bank) and to Safety and Security – Terrorism (threat level raised to “high”). The overall level of the advice has changed. We now advise against all but essential travel to areas within 40km of Israel's border with Gaza; we continue to advise against all travel to Gaza (including the waters off Gaza) and to the Sheba’a Farms and Ghajjar along the border with Lebanon.

I'd imagine European and western countries will liaise with each other and provide similar advice, if and when it needs to be changed.

It is probably related.
As you can see in keuleatr72's post (#5) there are hours now for departure and hours for arrivals since there is a single in and out route and takeoffs and landings are on opposite directions (no traffic at all west to the airport, only east and north).

I think perhaps with so many rockets waiting to land in Tel Aviv, there must have been quite a long queue - probably this is why Easyjet was delayed.
