It says this is the first Niki-plane to wear the Air Berlin based livery. Is the whole fleet being repainted? Sad, if thats the case, I thought the Niki-livery is quite smart and unique.

This is correct.. just landed 15 min ago in VIE inbound from Istanbul. Some officials are filming and taking pics. Rumor has it that the complete Niky "Fly" livery will be gone by end of this year on their A32X. It will remain on the Embraers, since these will leave the fleet by summer 2013.
But as to the inside of the palne, there is no change at all.

I am presently in Istanbul and saw that aircraft I saw that taxiing earlier. I didn't know Niki were repainting their fleet, I thought it was a temporary lease to increase capacity and that decals had been applied.
It looks a bit cheap.
Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

So, is this related to the rumor that AB wants to get rid of their Dash Q400s, that these are going to be based at VIE for Niki?
And if so -- does this mean that AB won't operate any a/c type smaller than the 73G/A319? Because currently they use the Niki Embraers on quite some of their routes.

Another rumor I've heard is that AB might look into a cooperation with Augsburg Airways, who recently have been dumped by LH. The Embraers could then be operated by IQ on behalf of AB (as there are no AB pilots for E-jets).

It is the normal AB livery with the excemption of the AB Titels and the Niki logo instead - with a difference - it now says "the spirit of Niki" on the logo.
And yes, all 320/321 will be painted like OE-LEU
The A319's being transferred from AB to HG will remain in AB colours with a small sticker "operated by Niki".
The Embraers are gone in a few months and will possibly remain the last aircraft with the silver livery and the fly.

correct
The Dahs are owned by LGW and operated for AB.

According the last announced plans it will not make that much sense - destinations like OTP or BEG or dropped, it seems that a Dash might be used to MUC and FLR. NUE is not sure but could be DH8 as well.
In case HG takes over more leisure routes from AB from/to Germany then NUE might remain jet equipment out of rotational reasons.

I know it is the normal Air Berlin livery, but I don't think it combines well with the Niki logo. And because Niki has/had a livery of their own, it looks a lot like the stickered aircraft they have short-leased over the years.

Interesting but don´t belong the EJets to LH ?

No, I believe it is the other way around

I was referring to the E-Jets of HG. These could be operated by IQ (because there are Embraer pilots employed by IQ, and the Niki staff is planned to be retrained for Airbus).

I also think so, columba. But in the meantime, some (at least 3-5?) have been sold to Nordic Aviation Capital and leased back.

Okay, that makes sense. Would be sad to see the EJets disappear from TXL/BER they are a nice change from the usual 737/A320 mix.

No Vasu you are not alone I love the NIKI livery,it's so different & it stands out! I'm glad I got some good photo's of it at DUS when I was there in June!

The livery itself was fine but this fly was ugly........

Thanks for that comment.
I flew TXL-SZG-TXL this week on an Air Berlin ticket and flight.
Was surprised to be on an aircraft that was Niki inside but Air Berlin on the outside.
OE-LOA, A319 with 4 overwing exits, I assume this was one of these?

Agreed. That can be said for the airline as a whole.

Indeed, OE-LOA is the former D-ABGN.

Exactly that´s the point !
The rest of the HG-livery still makes for a refreshing difference.
Just the fly and the crew´s uniforms are horrible in terms of style - not the colours per se ...
Well, for liveries the bar is already set not very high anymore in general but some liveries even fall short of that bar.
