So it appears PK plans to resume ORD service for the S13 season.

Part of a message I received a couple of days ago asking for approval of times.

S13

ORD
NPK793 04APR24OCT 0004000 329772 KHIBCN0045 J
N PK794 04APR24OCT 0004000 329772 0345BCNKHI J
NPK795 31MAR20OCT 0000007 329772 KHIBCN0045 J
N PK796 31MAR20OCT 0000007 329772 0345BCNKHI J

So lets discuss, will they be able to compete in an already tight market?

So the flights arrive at 00:45 and depart again at 03:45 - am I reading that correctly? Did they always arrive and depart through the night?

No, I have seen daytime pics of their a/c in ORD or flying out, both A310 in 90s and 777 few years back and and last year or so.

No, times listed are in UTC, local they would be 1945-2245.

Good news, will be glad to see PK back at ORD. But with QR comming and EY already offering connections to that region, i wonder if it will last. BCN with 5th freedom is also nice to have. Anyone hear anything about EK to ORD? it has to happen sooner or later, ORD cannot remain missing in thier network too much longer.

Regarding EK, I had a nice conversation with them last week, and they believe it will be sometime in 2013. A few variables still in play before they formally announce.

Nice with another option of flying cheap to Europe. One a few carriers offer decent one-way fares and PK is one of them.

Future flights: CPH-BKK-MNL; MNL-GUM-TKK-PNI-KSA-KWA-MAJ-HNL-LAX

Does anyone have any idea which type of plane they would use for this flight?

I feel like the 773ER would be their best bet, but I believe they just started taking delivery of them.

Exactly, which is why PK is a loss-making carrier that has to constantly re-treat from long-haul markets like ORD time after time again.

PK should focus on being profitable. They won't stand a chance with QR (and eventually EK) coming into Chicago in the near future.

next flights: jfk-icn, icn-hkg-bkk-cdg, cdg-phl-msp

While I would certainly welcome this - indeed would be very excited - do you all feel that ORD can support (economically-speaking) QR, EY, and EK?

The posted schedule advisory says 329 seat 772.

   PK has many many problems.

Not just those guys, folks like TK very successfully already carry connections flow to KHI and ISB.

First 773 was delivered in 2006 the last in 2008, the newly ordererd five are due from 2015 onwards.

hopefully not as PIA former Chairman said the airline cannot provide 'door to door' service, when the issue was raised in parliment or senate as to why they were dropping Glasgow.

This appears to be the last schedule that PK had before discontinuing ORD:

PK795 ISB0130 – 0325KHI0550 – 1020BCN1220 – 1500ORD 772 6
PK793 KHI0215 – 0400LHE0550 – 1020BCN1220 – 1500ORD 772 3

PK794 ORD1845 – 1025+1BCN1230+1 – 0015+2ISB0200+2 – 0355+2KHI 772 3
PK796 ORD1845 – 1025+1BCN1230+1 – 0015+2LHE0200+2 – 0345+2KHI 772 6

So, assuming that the new routing is KHI-BCN-ORD-BCN-KHI, the eastbound stops in ISB or LHE are gone. And, the once weekly westbound stop in LHE is also gone.

IAD and JFK will be the only other airports in the us that have all 3. If EK worked with UA for feed they should be able to make it work. EK seems to thrive in markets where direct competition is absent, they will have plenty of competition at ORD. Its going to get crouded soon. With PK, RJ,TK,EY,QR,EK and even AI all competing to the middle east/india/pakistan region it will be interesting too see how it plays out. I think RJ will be fine because Chicago has a solid Jordanian population and Palestinian population, and with feed from AA, theres the reason ORD is the only market in the us that get daily service. AI does not seem to care about being profitable, so no one can compete with them on ORD-DEL. TK and the three Gulf carriers may lead to some canabalism, but who knows, southwest/south asia is a growing market, ORD may keep them all, but if anyone is the oddball its PK

Most of PK's traffic comes from ISB and LHE so this is odd.
