Quote: Jet Airways (India) Ltd. (JETIN), Asia’s second best-performing airline stock this year, is in talks with Eithad Airways to sell a stake, an Indian government official said today.
SpiceJet Ltd. (SJET), the nation’s only publicly traded discount carrier, is in discussions with Malaysia’s AirAsia Bhd. (AIRA) for a stake sale, the official, who asked not to be identified citing rules. The government expects Jet Airways’ deal with Abu Dhabi- based Etihad to conclude in 45 days, the official told reporters in New Delhi.
Jet Airways executives, including Chief Commercial Officer Sudheer Raghavan, are in Abu Dhabi for talks on the stake sale, Economic Times reported, citing people it didn’t identify. A deal will help the Indian company tap the Gulf carrier’s global network, while Etihad can benefit from rising travel demand in India, said Binit Somaia at CAPA Centre for Aviation.

I hope this closes soon and EY does indeed push 9W into Skyteam. That would leave *A begging AI to come back to it's fold - quite a hilarious situation given the current events where it's AI pleading to be let (back) into *A.

But are we not forgetting that Jet have made it perfectly clear in the past that they are not interested in ST. Cash injection from EY or not that anymore than EY injecting cash into AB has seen them jump ship etc.
Quoting IndianicWorld (Reply 1): Its not exactly set on one alliance and looks set to instead have a foot in all corners.

I highly doubt *A would want anything to do with AI under any circumstances. The "baggage" that AI carries (no pun intended) would be too much for them to handle.

Quoting delimit (Reply 2): More potential alliance drama for India. Fun!
It's about time a Bollywood producers makes a movie or soap about the Indian aviation industry... Enough real life material I would say.

Yeah, just like QR didn't want influence at CV. Depending on how much of 9W we're talking, EY will want influence if they get 25% or more. You don't buy a stake in an airline just as an investment. You buy it to become part of the strategy you want to pursue (and it doesn't look as if EY wants to have very close ties with Star lately).

Somewhat off-topic, but Indigo has made some steps into the entertainment sector:
