Wow, I am sure UA is just so happy about this.

I mean I know UA and SQ don't codeshare and certainly wont given this. Will UA respond?

What can United respond with?

UA-SQ have not done much of anything all these years in Star anyhow.

SQ currently does codeshare with US Airways on a number of markets, but its network is not very beneficial at the SFO and LAX gateways.

Good move by VA!
It has always surprised me that UA hasn't taken this opportunity, as SQ flies in total 4 daily flights, where of 2 are A380(soon) into LAX and SFO.

What has went wrong in the SQ-UA cooperation?

I can't imagine anyone cares or will notice, particularly since UA, can access all the same itineraries on its own metal, probably with less circuitous routings as well.

Nothing really wrong, there just was not much from day one.

Star does not force members to codeshare or work closely commercially beyond frequent flyer reciprocity really

For instance United and Thai no longer codeshare either having ended that in 2011.

Dont know what took so long for VX to get these alliances going but bravo! This is how to pack up those airbuses. How many alliances is that now? 6 i think...and they really need to tie together VS and VA on both coasts..i honestly thought that was one of the original business models.
