PROVIDENCE, R.I., Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning value airline JetBlue Airways (JBLU) shines even brighter today with the launch of nonstop service between the Sunshine State of Florida and the carrier's 75th destination: Providence, Rhode Island. Two daily flights from T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) and one daily flight to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) begin today.

Jetblue will use gate 12 at PVD and use the new counters that were built adjacent to the old NW ones and next to the new combined UA/CO counter.

From the looks of it, both flights today are completely sold out (cant even buy a ticket online), with FLL sold out for the next few days. Hopefully a good sign for additional flights!.

I'm so happy to see PVD getting some good quality LCC service besides WN. From what I have seen on B6's websote the flights are selling pretty well.

Way to go PVD!

It's always refreshing to see an airline do something that makes sense. Wishing PVD and B6 the best on this one.

Congrats to PVD and B6! Great to see more service to a New England airport on B6! I must have been hiding under a rock or something. I never even heard the announcement!

Hopefully not long, but only time (and load factors) will tell.

Also on a sidenote, flt 1096 (inaugural from FLL) is at FL50 right now and is being operated by N509JB.

Pretty cool to have two B6's on the ground at once of their first day! Plus, the two commercial flights were very close together. Hopefully somebody's out there getting us some pics!

Also, I'm assuming the third a320 that's o theground brough the big mucky-mucks from B6 into PVD fo the ceemonies? It's leaving soon for BOS, so I can only assume it brought VIPs to he ceremony.

These NE to Florida markets do well for them.

Good move.

Should really start it with more than 3 flights though.

2 a day to both MCO and FLL at bare minimum. I suspect higher frequencies sooner rather than later

Awesome. I would think SJU is the most likely next flight if these go well? Neither BOS or JFK make any sense.

Haha, whoopiesss.....   Either way, we can tell they wanted the plane for the flight becase it RONd at MCO and didn't have it take off until noon, so there must've been something about this plane that they wanted. Or they just didn't want to risk delays

I, however, am very happy to see JetBlue's best looking tail scheme operating the inaugural!

Accessing the Westbound B6 system via the JFK hub hopefully will come soon for PVD and Southern New England.

Hopefully and likely are two different things here unfortunately. I'd love to see it but, my guess is Florida and maybe SJU for a while.

Agreed, though I do hope PVD gets JFK or LGA service from somebody soon again. So much easier than having to go ISP-PHL-PVD or EWR-PVD.
