Not always, sometime they are just trying to entice people to fly them. If you look at LGA-MYR, the fares are under 100 dollars very often, but the planes are allmost always full.

Well, since they are moving towards the FR/NK ULCC model, that would make sense.

F9 is not struggling to fill planes as much as they are struggling to be profitable. It's not difficult to fill planes when your fares are 50-80% less the major carriers.

3 OF 4 of those routes are brand new so im sure it has something to do with that. F9 has two profitable quarters and runs nearly 100% full system wide so lets get off the dump on F9 train..its really getting old

I think it is a fair question. They are offering base fares in the Allegiant and Spirit range, but they don't have nearly as much ancillary revenue as those carriers have.

That's exactly the point.

1) NK flies high demand routes to major destinations. They charge extra for absolutely everything, including a fee for purchasing a ticket.

2) G4 is primarily a travel company. They sell tour packages to augment their flight operation.

3) F9's latest strategy (if they have one) is to fly low demand, unproven routes, like Trenton to New Orleans, for example. Their only ancillary revenue comes from a 20.00 bag fee, a few dollars extra for an extra legroom seat, and alcoholic beverages. No one, including F9, can make much money with a plane full of rock bottom fares.

Since F9 will soon exit the TYS-Orlando market it would seem this route is most definetly struggling as it directly competes with G4.

I think some of this may be attributed to the dates around Christmas Dec 34 and 26th. As I recall many if not all of the Orlando theme parks have scaled back operations during the period. I visited Hershey PA a few years ago for a holiday lighting event although scenic It was down right cold and not the most enjoyable with the understanding Hershey is a little farther north than Orlando.

In the low fare department WN offered $100 or less fares to several destinations valid for travel on Dec 24th only. There are also some decent fares across several carriers on December 25th.

Man can be taken from Alaska. Alaska can never be taken from the man.

Hmm. That's funny. That's exactly what they seem to be doing.
