Icelandair Back At LGW?

I see Icelandair has started back at Gatwick again, when did this happen? I don't remember hearing any news about this, and plus I thought they were at LHR.

It's a twice weekly on Thursdays (Morning) and Sundays (Afternoon) to ease the load on LHR.

I was not aware that FI had been there ever before.

Ahh yes your're right. I did remember seeing an Icelandair 757 a couple times before here, but just now looking on A.net it seems they were leased to Ghana International Airlines which flew from Gatwick to Accra a couple years ago.

So right now they have 2 flights a day to/from Heathrow, and now 2 flights to/from Gatwick! That's pretty amazing given that we are in a recession and the fact that Iceland has historically been a very expensive place to visit!

The UK isn't in recession anymore  

Icelandair have had ads in the Metro newspaper and on tube trains recently. Its quite popular with young people as a weekend break at the moment.

FI back in October announced that they plan to offer a extra weekly flight and a improved schedule on it's LGW service from 14MAY13 . The 3 x weekly service will offer more connection opportunities for passengers wishing to fly between the UK and North America compared to the current W12 schedule.

Until 13MAY13

FI471 LGW 12:30 KEF 15:30 757 4

Personally i think the timings of the Icelandair flights from LGW during W12 are perfect for passengers wishing to visit Iceland for a long weekend but are not great for those wishing to connect to the carriers services to North America.
