AIRLINERS.NET CREW FORUM MODERATOR
RFD will be announcing new air service tomorrow, December 5, 2012 at a press conference.
WHAT: New Air Service Announcement
WHERE: Chicago Rockford International Airport Main Terminal, Observation Court
WHEN: Press Conference at 1:00 p.m. followed by drawing for trip.
Let the guessing begin. Maybe something new on G4? RFD-FLL or PGD? Seems like a stretch but I suppose there is a small chance of RFD-MYR or OAK as well.
Nope G4 is just a guess on my part. NK could be possible too.

Yes, I was thinking something like FLL, MYR or SFB... maybe LAS. Let's wait and see!
The last two are already served on G4 from RFD, but of course that doesn't mean some one else can't serve those routes as well.
Edit: Also worth noting G4 has been doing contests for tickets on the recently new RST-IWA service. They also have flown RFD-FLL in the past from Nov. 16, 2007 through May 31, 2008. They cited high fuel costs when they pulled the route.

I would guess RFD-PGD as it seems they will want to start announcing the next batch of cities going there. With more aircraft coming in they should be able to jump into the former Direct Air PGD routes now.
Any opinion/comment posted is that of my own and not that of Southwest Airlines Co.

Here is an excerpt from the official Allegiant press release:

Quoting stlgph (Reply 10): No surprise here on that one! The surprise to me is that it took them this long to announce Rockford.
I'm pretty sure RFD and TOL have been in the works for months, it just came down to a/c availability. TOL had been pushing to get service to PGD start a couple months back, but that fell through due to the 2nd airport they were working with not getting it together. At the same time RFD was ready to announce service to PGD but said the plans fell through. Not to hard to put those pieces together. LOL
All three cities should do very well on this. Looking at the FlyTOL site, the last full month for Direct Air (February) showed this being a very strong route for them with load factors in the mid to upper 90s.

Either Allegiant had just a few introductory fare seats or the TOL market really has jumped on these flights...all intro flights were sold out as of 2:00pm for the first two months...Of all of the Allegiant markets, I think this one could be the best of all 3 of them.

This makes me wonder if TOL-PGD will give FWA-PGD (which is doing very well) a run for the money in loads and yields when it comes to G4 PGD route performance.

Considering Direct Air was nearly completely filling the flights out of TOL, I would think this is going to be a very good route for them.
Looking at the books so far for today (based on their seat map, which won't be entirely accurate), TOL is booked to 63 and RFD to 54. Not bad for first day sales. Compared to FWA which is at 55 for that portion of February.

Looks like these routes just might be up with FWA.
Is G4 basing a second aircraft at PGD for these new flights? I know that before, it was a one-plane base.
