Great to see that lovely bird flying to LAX now. I will fly her to LAX in January. Can't wait for that flight.

Does anyone know the runway and gate that LH456 will be using today.? I want to get there and set up early, possibly at the Proud Bird. I'm afraid that if I do, they will switch runways on me....

Cheers,
Bob

Usually we park on the South Side of the TBIT. So Parking stands 101-104 IIRC. Sometimes I parked on the north part as well.
Landing is a little different everytime I fly into LAX, and I fly there quite often. I landed on 24R and on 25L, and no matter which parking stand we had... So it will be a little lottery.

Really? I may be in LAX for spotting in January before school kicks back in! If you're flying her any time before Jan. 6, that would be awesome

Flightaware is showing it as a B747-400, is it just an error?

The only gates available for the B748 are 101,123A,134. And if they need to be placed at the remotes, 212,216,207,209

Last time I checked D-ABYA is a -8. But FA list it as a 400 :/

It also shows D-ABYA which is definitely an -8 so must be an error.

For some reason, FlightAware has significant issues with the 747-8. On the inaugural Dulles flight, it also showed a 744 as the operating aircraft.

However, I got the Lufthansa media advisory in my inbox this morning that D-ABYA is on its way, so it's definitely coming!

Thanks to Wilco737 for that information.

The Lufthansa web site says 747-8i and there is an additional messed up entry on FA that refers to LH456 as a -8,but it is not the active flight shown. Typical flightaware......

My bet is parking at 134, more room for the festivities. Those two end gates for the A380 are kind of jammed when there are aircraft parked adjacent.

I'm just hoping for a 25L arrival..... I'll be monitoring approach on my scanner

Cheers,
Bob

Again, thanks for the help.

I was supposed to be on that flight but with the snow in Germany, LH kept on delaying my inbound flight LYS-FRA making the connection impossible so they rebooked me on BA from LYS to LHR and then on to LAX...

I don't think so, United didn't put on a big event like LH did.

So they actually printed "Lufthansa B747-800" onto the cookies? Actually not as bad a mistake as their recent announcement of starting the A380 on MUC-YVR.

Does this have anything to do with why FRA-IAD was operated by a 744 today?

The Boeing 7478i so far has not really gotten the sale that one can call a good selling product, personally I believe in the product but Boeings has got to re evaluate its marketing team on the 748i program. There were so many many opportunities to throw a good sales pitch for the aircraft but unfortunately nothing came to materialize. So far the A380 is making a killing for the VLAs though not in significant numbers since it is a niche market but nonetheless the sales keeps on coming and objectively its a pretty good aircraft too.

It is indeed a lovely bird. If have seen some of them at FRA, they look very impressive. With your remark you are making me jealous. But hopefully I will be on a bird like this and I hope you will be piloting the flight then.
