Looking good hey? Awaiting for A.Net to display it in high definition and full glory. It is the very same aircraft, 9M-MXA, which caught many A.Netters by surprise when it was revealed in the airline's current livery for the first time in this A.Net photo

9M-MXA will be the only aircraft that will wear this MH retro livery.

A bit of a narrative, this livery was introduced in 1972 when MSA (Malaysia-Singapore Airlines) split up to create the current MH and SQ. It is regarded as the original livery for modern day MH. It seems to me that this project is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of modern history of MH (beginning from MSA break up onwards), which is depicted by the large 40 sticker near door 1L of the aircraft.

MH is organising a special flight MH 711 KUL-CGK and back to reveal this aircraft on 13 December 2012.

I remember when MH use to fly their 742's into MEL with that livery, looked very smart and that was in the early 80s. I realy do wish QF would do a retro livery.

Amazing! I too remember the 747s in this livery at LHR.

Yup Qantas 747-400 retrojet would be amazing. And BA must be the only European airline left who haven't done one - come on BEA 320 and BOAC 777!

fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Love these colours as these were the colours of the first aircraft I ever flew on. Hopefully this bird makes it down to Perth at some stage during the once weekly PER - BKI service.

Funny really... there's only just been a thread on here about how many different MH liveries there are at the moment!

Yes totally agree...the original 747 scheme with cheatline and winged kangaroo. With Qantas' 100th anniversary coming up in a few more years perhaps a chance for them to do something like this.

......only snag is we wouldn't see it here in LHR would we. Trouble is I can't imagine an A380 in the retro colours somehow and the 744 would be the natural choice

....and the DC10s I much rather this old MAS scheme that the odd liveries they have now, it may be a bit retro but it is distintive which is what you want from a Corporate identity..
