The carrier's 10 -8s on order are scheduled to be delivered starting 2014, Dinesh Keskar, Boeing Commercial Airplanes' senior vice-president of Asia-Pacific and India sales, tells Flightglobal.
The carrier is, however, considering converting the order to the larger -9s, he says. "If they do that, there will be a delay. The -9s, however, have better economics for them, so now they are looking at their portfolio," adds Keskar.
Besides the 10 -8s on firm order, Jet also has options for an additional 10 aircraft of the same type.

They have a young A330-200 fleet, so the 787-9 would serve as a capacity step for long-haul missions (A332 to 789 to 77W). The A330-300 would be fine for regional missions and offers compatibility with the A332 fleet.
Once the A330-200s start to hit replacement age, 9W can then start adding 787-8s.

I believe eventually they should just make their entire future fleet 789s along with 737max,
they have struggled to fill their 77Ws , at one point they had leased out 7 of their 10 , they only need the capacity for LHR, but the benefit of a single fleet of 789s far out weighs the revenue from a few extra seats
The 789 is more than capable of doing any route they currently operate plus a further India USA non stop route or set up their US west coast hub operations on India -HKG-sfo/lax
The 333 as far as I know are 6 year leases and are most likely to replace 5 332s on one to one basis,
