I grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, and have often flown from FWA since 1995.
I have a question about whether First Class has ever been offered on flights to/from FWA historically (especially when there was mainline service). I remember when FWA was served by 727s, 737s, DC-9s, and MD-80/90 family aircraft. Did these flights have premium seating then?
Now that FWA is served totally by US legacy regional carriers (AA Eagle, UA Express, DL Connection, etc), there are no premium class seats available on flights to/from FWA (since the equipment is all CRJs and ERJs, and used to be turboprops). Consequently ALL flights to/from FWA are all-economy.
Will there ever be a return of premium seating to FWA flights? For example, if the larger E-Jets and CRJ700/900 ever come to Fort Wayne, could there be a return of F or C class seating to FWA flights?

Particularly on FWA-ATL/MSP, as both of those DL routes are 50-seat routes between 450 and 750 miles, which DL wants to convert to 2-class aircraft before all the others. And if Eagle brings 2-class jets back to DFW, I could see FWA-DFW as one of the first routes to benefit.
UA is trickier, as they currently only fly one route from FWA (ORD) on OO at-risk CR2s. Should UA add a second and/or third route from FWA, I could see DEN launching on two-class aircraft to fight F9 at SBN, but IAD or EWR would probably start on ER4s or CR2s to minimize risk.
Quoting Viscount724 (Reply 1): UA served FWA with 727s and 737s, and DL with 727s and DC-9s. They all had a first class cabin. Also NW DC-9s and maybe a few others.
Don't forget PI back in the days of the DAY hub (F28, 737) and AA's pre-Eagle 727s to ORD.
