According to AA.com. AA will be adding a second daily 777 on MIA-LHR, year round starting in April 2013. With this flight AA/BA will have 5 daily flights year round. Interesting addition seeing that this additional flight usually only operates during the winter months and is only 3 days per week. Definitely good news for Miami. With the delivery of the new 777-300's hopefully that will free up some 777-200's that can be allocated elsewhere. Could there be more Europe flying on AA from Miami on the horizon?

Yes. Daily service to Milan is supposedly on the horizon - and even though this has been rumored for years, it's expected to finally get off the ground post-BK.

Also, at the same time AA goes double-daily on MIALHR, IB goes double-daily on MIAMAD.

As the OP stated - no.

AA/BA will have departures from Miami to London daily at approximately 5.30p, 6.30p, 8.30p, 9.30p and 10.30p.

With regards to EU routes, AA has failed to take advantage of their dominance at MIA. Have they ever considered FRA or DME?

This development is exactly what a Joint Venture is all baout. Providing excellent schedules on key routes. MIA can now really be used as connecting hub for a very wide range of key routes.

This is true. The late BA has been dropped in favor of the 2nd AA flight. The flight is still listed in GDS but zeroed out.

A few years ago, AF opertaed 2 daily flights to MIA

Doubtful. Low-yielding, zero connecting traffic, little business traffic. Much better suited for a charter or leisure-based carrier rather than a large network airline like AA.

next flights: jfk-icn, icn-hkg-bkk-cdg, cdg-phl-msp

In this case I wonder if BA is making it's third frequency seasonal, or maybe AA will go to 17w in the winter?

Sounds perfect for a BA LGW 777

In terms of airport facilities, yes. SA used to fly a 747 into FLL in the 90s. I don't think there's enough traffic on LON-FLL to justify a 777, though.

Aren't AA/BA metal neutral across the Atlantic? It looks like they just swapped the BA 777 for an AA one.

I remember seeing the SA 744 in June 2001 @ FLL. Doesn't the 777 have a wider wingspan than a 747?

The 777-200LR and -300ER wingspans are about 1 foot greater than the 747-400, but the 747-8 wingspan is greater.

Please don't Gatwick Miami again, we have been there and done that. The UK's policy of all airline after 1977 had to be "Gatwicked" sucked and was even used aginast Virgin Atlantic and British Caledonian. Cathay Pacific and ANZ were Gatwicked too.

LGW has found its niche as an LCC and holiday airport as shown us by Virgins 744's with 500 seats to Orlando.
