No surprise considering the 717s coming over from FL and the deliveries of the 739 start next year. I am curious as to where they will be based. JFK comes to mind, but that's not where these aircraft will be originally based.

Well since FA's are not limited to one aircraft it doesn't matter. But NYC is the most junior and probably will stay that way with some of the NYC FA's moving to open spots in other cities.

When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

Is the Hindi speaking F/A position for existing routes or is there anything new planned for India. I wish DL/Skyteam would add at least a couple more destinations in India.

Was on DL8 from ATL to DXB today and was surprised there was a Hindi speaking FA doing announcements in Hindi onboard. This was new since the last time I flew the same route a year or so back.

I've flown on 9V-SPK.

Usually the speakers are there for a specific route/flight, but sometimes they are necessary for any flights that require the speakers. I agree with you that it's odd for DL to hire Hindi speakers, so maybe there will be a restart to an indian route from somewhere, considering that the 777 and the 747s have been completed on their retrofit.

This is for the non-language position.

It's not Delta policy for a flight attendant to make an announcement in Hindu on ATL-DXB. It could have been that there were many passengers on board who only spoke Hindu and by coincidence one of the flight attendants also spoke the language and chose to make certain announcements in Hindu. A coincidence, not standard practice.

1 Hindi speaker has been added to ATL-DXB along with the Arabic speaker as part of the LOD program due to the amount of passengers connecting to India through DXB. The announcements by each of the LOD FAs in their respective languages is not a coincidence it IS standard policy. Hindi speakers have been on the flight for several months, since the summer at least.

p.s. Hindi is the language, Hindu is the people

Will there be a rush of FAs flying on regional carriers trying to move on up? Are you more attractive to DL if you have worked as an FA with a DL Connection carrier and are already familiar with the DL concept?

I was wondering if Comair flight attendants would be given priority. I would hope so.

Former Comair FA's will not be given priority hiring status. No one will get priority hiring status. Expect only the most qualified applicants to be hired out of ten's of thousands of applicants. We've heard that the last 1000 hired were chosen out of 100,000+ applications. I would think that being multi-lingual will be the starting point for qualified.
