Appears IB and labor union negotiators have reached an agreement. The strike originally scheduled for the post-holiday season has been cancelled, thankfully.

From my reading of the article, they have agreed to negotiate the terms of an agreement, but have not actually reached an agreement yet. The Iberia press release is quite vague.

I read in the newspaper that pilots wouldn´t mind to reduce the salary by 50%, and also they the union is saying that if the things continue like now IB will disappear in few years because the fusion with BA.
Quoting PDPsol (Reply 2): Correct, they have 'agreed to agree to negotiate' LOL! But, the important step is that they are avoiding the strike post-holiday.
then they´ll agree that they are not agree and back to start point...

I believe this is only for new entrants on short/medium haul flights which Iberia pilots had offered to do previously to prevent Iberia Express and that clearly wasn't enough for Iberia management.
I think there are still big stumbling blocks but it's good there are negotiations and it is a wise move to bring in a third party mediator. I suspect this is a lesson learned from the BA cabin crew dispute and will help moderate any potential for bad behaviour (not turning up to meetings, or walking out of meetings).
