EK & TAP Launches Codeshare And FFP Agreement

TAP & Emirates announced an agreement, including a reciprocal codeshare agreement and the linking of the frequent flyer programmes.

The agreement -effective December 21 – will allow passengers to purchase single tickets for connecting Emirates and TAP services, as well as enabling members of the Emirates Skywards and TAP Victoria loyalty schemes to earn and redeem miles when flying on either carrier.

Interesting news. I suspect there will be a few people in FRA and AUH not thrilled about this. I wonder if this is a bigger play to snap up/influence/partially acquire TAP to replicate the Dubai model at the intersection of Europe, Africa and the Americas...

I expected this from day one. Portugal - Asia traffic is not what EK wanted. They came into LIS looking to feed off of TP's Brazilian network. This is also great news for TP too.
