Last year marked the end of an era for DL when they cut the original international flight from ATL to LGW.

Since the JV partnership, do you think DL will resume flying into LGW since VS has a sizable operation there?

I don't find it likely. From what I can tell, all of VS' LGW operations head to Caribbean sun destinations, Florida and Las Vegas. I don't see where that fits in with DL at all. I'm not saying it's impossible, but unlikely DL sees any reason to resume operations to LGW merely because VS leisure flights operate from there.

I believe that a strong motivator for the ownership and JV is LHR access, so I do not think that LGW plays into the strategy at all.

Maybe all we will see is DL codeshare on VS services from LGW to LAS and MCO

No, every carrier has closed down their LGW operations as soon as they get slots at LHR.

They will not return, there is no reason for it.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Virgin's Gatwick flights to Orlando are package holiday flights sold as "Virgin Vacations". VA doesn't need DL for this and probably would only code-share on the routes. LGW based planes have only 14 Upper Class seats and are mostly Y class with some Y+.

We have several double thread delete requests as the topic is covered well in the existing thread located below. The link will take you to Reply 21 where the discussion about LHR/LGW starts.
