Walking past the B gates this afternoon I think I saw a United 787 - haven't seen a Dreamliner up close before so not sure. Can anyone confirm? Is it regular into DEN?

I believe they are being used on the IAH-DEN route. I just pulled the UA schedule and it was flight UA1497 that runs in the morning until next week. I believe UA has them mostly running routes out of IAH

They've been operating IAH-DEN-IAH regularly for a couple of weeks now and have been flying 787s into DEN twice daily since the 24th. I imagine that'll be short-lived though due to pending LAX-NRT ops. Incidentally, they both went tech at DEN on the 26th - with delays of 2.5 and 4 hours. Don't know what the issue was... were you there throwing rocks?

I think that these are domestic flights from IAH. The plane leaves IAH around 7:20 AM, departing back from DEN around 4 hours later (though time zone difference makes it look 3 hours later.) If memory serves, these flights end in Early January. Then on March 31, in conjunction with the start of DEN-NRT, there will be about a 9:15 AM IAH-DEN flight, and a 2:15 PM DEN-IAH flight (both times local departure time.) I assume that this will allow 2 aircraft to continuously run IAH-DEN-NRT-DEN-IAH, or rotate into the other 787 routes from IAH.
Not a bad day either, As the guys get more "hands time" on them they'll get less confusing. They're troubleshot using laptops and fault codes. it takes time to learn these things if you don't see them every day. None overnight at DEN as I recall and only the IAH MX crews right now are familiar with them. a LOT of guys went to school on them but going to school does NOT equate to expertise until you get some "hands on" time. The airplane will run it's own system checks if you ask it to. You'd better know HOW to ask though.

Other than flight 1136/1510 (IAH-ORD-IAH) does anyone know if the 787 will be in ORD or DEN on January 4th? I'm flying through those two airport and would love to catch a few pictures of it. I tried looking online but I don't know anywhere with the timetables of the 787 for January other than doing a route search on ual.com

According to latest timetable, IAH-DEN-IAH ends next Wed so your only luck will be the morning IAH-ORD-IAH turn scheduled on the ground in ORD from approx. 10:00-11:30a.
That being said, UA has been adding a lot of ad hoc flights this week. For example, tomorrow there's 2 IAH-DEN-IAH and 3 IAH-ORD-IAH flights currently scheduled.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on the schedule as the days approach....if anything I have the pleasure of flying the 777 from DEN-ORD, it's been too long since I last flew on one of those

Love that morning 772 flight. Not enough widebody in DEN anymore. UA is down to single digits in number of WBs from DEN. The ad hoc flights are interesting. Are these just subs on the existing flights? 738, 739, and 752/753 are all on the route.
